Penicuik Petanque Club were away to Newtongrange Petanque Club today. This was our 4th match of the Lothian and Borders League competition. The weather was great for the matches. Unfortunately we lost by 4 games to 2. However all the games were close and played in a friendly competitive manner.
Our next league match is at home to Rosslyn Rhinos best.

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Girl Guides to our piste for an introduction to the wonderful game of pétanque.

Although the weather was a little dull, it certainly didn’t dampen the girls’ enthusiasm or enjoyment! There was plenty of laughter, friendly competition, and new skills learned along the way. By all accounts, a great time was had by everyone involved.

We’re always delighted to welcome individuals, groups, clubs, and organisations who would like to give pétanque a try. Whether you’re a complete beginner or simply curious about the sport, we’d love to see you on the piste!

We are excited to say it less than 1 week until our Penicuik Pétanque Club Open Weekend on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June 2026.
We thought you might find this information helpful :
~*our address* is
Montgomery Park, Cranston Street, Penicuik, EH26 9BW
~*parking* is available in the streets around the Piste or alternatively there is a carpark at Bog Road Playing Fields EH26 9BZ.
~*gazebos* can be erected at the Piste
~*bring your own chairs * there are only 2 picnic tables
~*toilets* are available at the Rugby Club beside the piste
~*no smoking/vaping* on or around the piste. A designated smoking area will be confirmed
~*breakfast/lunch* will be available to buy both days at the Rugby Club. See Menu post for choices/prices.
~*tea/coffee,* water, canned juice, biscuits and traybake will be available to buy both at the Rugby Club and the Piste
~*Please bring your reusable coffee mug* -£1 for the first cup then free refills all day
~*scones* will be available to buy at the piste - hurry, they don’t last long!
~*payments* cards preferred, cash accepted (small change/notes if possible)
~*raffle* Saturday/Sunday -
£1 a strip
~*pétanque fundraiser squares * Saturday/Sunday - £2 a square(£50 prize money)
~*Premier shop* 5 minutes walk
~*REGISTRATION -8.30am for START at 9.00am *
~*practice* - available Friday evening
~*photos* will be taken. If you would like to be excluded please speak to Scott/ David/John at registration.

A fantastic morning was spent completing the tidy-up of the Portobello pétanque piste at Rosefield Park. Inspired by Sandy Howden’s vision of helping to establish another club and bring it into the wider pétanque community, the project brought together members from five local clubs: Penicuik, Dalkeith, Dunbar, Inverleith and East Lothian.

A fantastic night at the club as we welcomed newcomers for our Petanque open evening. Club members were on hand to share the basics, demonstrate technique, and guide visitors through fun drills before everyone jumped into some friendly games.

A brilliant mix of learning, laughter, and community spirit, a great showcase of what our club is all about.
