The Glamorganshire - founded in 1890, the fourth oldest club in Wales - is steeped in history. It was here in September 1898 that the Stableford scoring system was first tried by its creator, Dr. Frank Stableford then a member of The Glamorganshire. In recent years the clubhouse has been completely re-developed and offers excellent dining and changing room facilities. There have also been numerous

improvements to the golf course. The par 70, 6,184 yard golf course, enjoying stunning views over the sea, is not actually a links, but an 18-hole parkland course on undulating ground at the eastern edge of Cosmeston Lakes Country Park. With narrow wood-lined fairways, well-guarded greens, water hazards and over eighty strategic bunkers, it offers a stern but fair test to golfers at all levels. The town of Penarth lies on the north shore of the Severn Estuary on Cardiff Bay, just 5 miles (9 kms) from the Welsh capital city of Cardiff. Only 25 miles (40 kms) away by motorway is The Celtic Manor Resort, which was the venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup. For many years now, Penarth, with its traditional seafront and extensive surviving Victorian and Edwardian architecture, has been a highly popular holiday destination, promoted internationally as “The Garden by the Sea”. The town continues to be an excellent base for the many tourist attractions in and around Cardiff and South Wales.

⛳ Every divot counts…

One of the simplest ways we can all help keep the course in great condition is by replacing our divots.

Course Manager Iain Grant and Club Manager Martin Price explain why taking a few extra seconds to replace a divot is so important. When divots are replaced correctly, the grass has a much better chance of recovering quickly, helping to maintain healthier fairways and better playing conditions for everyone.

It might seem like a small thing, but over the course of a season, those small actions make a huge difference.

Have a watch and let us know what you think. Is there anything else you’d like Iain and Martin to cover in future videos? 👇

⛳ Looking after our greens…

We’ve all hit that satisfying approach shot that lands on the green, but have you repaired the pitch mark it left behind?

Course Manager Iain Grant and Club Manager Martin Price share why taking a few seconds to repair your pitch mark — and even another one nearby — can make a huge difference to the quality of our greens.

It’s a small action that helps every member enjoy better putting surfaces throughout the season.

Take a look at the video and let us know your thoughts. Are there any other course care tips or club topics you’d like Ian and Martin to cover? 👇

⛳ A few words from the course…

One topic that comes up time and time again from members is bunker raking, so we caught up with Course Manager Ian Grant and Club Manager Martin Price to share some simple tips on getting it right.

It only takes a couple of minutes, but good bunker etiquette helps keep the course in great condition for everyone.

We’ll also be sharing videos later this week on replacing divots and repairing pitch marks – including why fixing someone else’s can make a real difference too.

Have a watch and let us know what you think. Is there anything else you’d like Ian and Martin to cover? 👇

A Huge start to the season for the Junior 2nds away last night.

We’re incredibly proud of all the lads, many playing their first ever team match. Reports were they conducted themselves brilliantly and were great ambassadors for themselves and the club.

Big thanks to for playing the “Rassie Role” and see below for his report ⬇️

“Glamorgan Juniors got their season off to a fantastic start with a 2–1 away victory at Whitchurch, captained superbly by Jay-Jay.

There was some excellent golf played throughout the afternoon, mixed with plenty of sportsmanship and a few very generous concessions along the way, making it a great match played in the right spirit.

Jay-Jay and Harri led from the front with an impressive 3&2 victory, while Archie and Tom produced the standout result of the day with a dominant 6&4 win after some outstanding golf from tee to green.

Ollie and James were involved in a tightly contested match that went all the way down the 18th hole, eventually narrowly losing after a hard-fought battle.

One of the highlights of the day came on the par-5 13th, where both sides somehow managed to halve the hole with a remarkable score of 10.

Overall, it was a brilliant start to the season for the Juniors, with strong performances across the board and plenty to build on for the matches ahead.“

🙌 Huge thanks to Barry, Pete, Trig, Julia and the parents for getting the junior section up and running. A VERY exciting season ahead.
