Dragon Canoe Club The Winner of The Best Canoe Polo Team In Britain Award He also went on to build the most competitive plastic version called the Dragon Clubman.

The club was established by Iain Williams in 1972 when its members played mainly in international canoe polo tournaments. Iain was the designer and builder of the most successful competitive RFG canoe polo of the day, the Dragon Bat. In the early days the athletes were always drawn from the South Wales area of local clubs like GVP and Bridgend. Guest players have always been an integral part of th

e 'Team Selection' and they often provided a platform for social polo players who liked to play for fun but often do not play with teams who allow a laid back approach to the game. In recent years players have been drawn-on long term from other clubs which have helped the team's more regular line-up, providing some more consistency in results. The Dragon's have won seven successive Welsh National League titles, the Welsh Open, the Liverpool and Hull International in the U.K., the Irish Open, the Yprers International and the Charleroi International in Belgium, the Fribourg International in Switzerland and the Cup of the North in Canada as well as many other events. The team currently plays in the British National League, the Welsh National League and also in the South West Regional League. Each year they also attend around ten International Tournaments and currently have three team GB members in their team.

Bit of a delayed post, but two weeks ago Dragon competed at the Cup of the North looking to retain their title from last year.

After a tense final that went to golden goal, they narrowly missed out and finished in 2nd place behind Great White Buffalo.

Last weekend there were two Dragon teams in action, the first (pictured above) played in the South West Regional league, and followed up their strong first day with another strong set of performances leaving them top of the league! ๐Ÿฅ‡

The other Dragon team played in the South East Regional league, and finished the first round of games in a promising 2nd place in the league. ๐Ÿฅˆ

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ CUP OF THE NORTH 2025 ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Two weeks ago, Dragon attended Cup of the North held in Edmonton Canada for the 20th edition of the event. The team started the weekend well winning 3 out of 4 games on the first day, and followed this up by winning all three games, including beating Great White Buffalo in the final to crown themselves champions of the competition.

Well done to the other members from Dragon who played in the B division, Chris & Ross, who played with some of the local teams. A big thanks to EWP for putting on a great event again!

Also a big shout out to the Dragon team competing in Belfast on the same weekend, coming in 3rd place ๐Ÿฅ‰
