Drowning Prevention Week 13th - 20th June
Cold Water Shock is an autonomic response to immersion in cold or open water around the UK, both in summer and winter.
All open water in the UK is classed as cold water.
Just because the weather is lovely, and the water seems inviting, doesnt mean its safe to run, jump or dive straight in.
Get in slowly, keep you face away/out of from the water until the cold water shock passes. It usually only takes a couple of minutes.
Then you can dive under, jump, run.. do what you like.

World Ocean Day 2026

The ocean is at the heart of everything we do at Wild Swim Wales.

It provides adventure, tranquillity, connection, and a constant reminder of the power and beauty of the natural world. Every coastal swim is an opportunity to experience the incredible marine environment that surrounds us here in Wales.

Today, on World Ocean Day, we’re taking a moment to appreciate our oceans and reflect on the responsibility we all share to protect them for future generations.

Whether you’re a regular sea swimmer, a beach walker, or simply someone who loves the coast, small actions can make a big difference:
✔️ Take litter home
✔️ Avoid single-use plastics
✔️ Respect wildlife and habitats
✔️ Support local conservation efforts

Thank you to everyone who joins us in celebrating and caring for our amazing blue spaces.

What’s your favourite ocean memory from Wales? We’d love to hear it in the comments.

A few moments from our recent beach wellbeing session 🌊☀️

No big agenda. No pressure. Just a couple of hours spent slowing down, noticing what’s around us, connecting with nature, and taking a break from the constant busyness of everyday life.

There was chatting, walking, paddling, sitting quietly, trying out a few simple wellbeing activities, and plenty of time to simply be.

One of my favourite pieces of feedback was:
💙 “I didn’t know where that time went.”

It’s amazing how quickly two hours can pass when we’re not rushing from one thing to the next.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a calm, friendly atmosphere. Here are a few snapshots from the day 📸

What a lovely couple of hours at the beach.

We spent time exploring simple self-care activities that can help us navigate busy, stressful lives. Nothing complicated, expensive or time-consuming – just easy ideas that can be fitted into everyday life.

The group enjoyed a mix of beach-based nature activities, opportunities to chat and connect, and for those who wanted to, a swim, dip or paddle. Drinks and snacks helped keep us going, and the weather was kind to us too.

The best part was hearing how people felt afterwards:

💙 “I didn’t know where that time went.”

💙 “I can’t believe something so easy could work so well.”

💙 “I feel so much more relaxed.”

💙 “I can’t believe I’ve never been to this beach before.”

💙 “The activity ideas were great! Almost free stuff I can do with my whole family.”

It’s always encouraging to see how spending a little time in nature, slowing down, and connecting with others can make such a difference.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a positive, relaxed session.

The photos have landed… and what a weekend it was!

Looking back through these images, we’re reminded of just how special The Big Retreat Festival was this year.

From first dips and big smiles to sunny lakeside moments, cheering queues, and our magical night swim lit by torches, glow sticks, and tow floats, every photo tells a story.

What stands out most isn’t just the swimming – it’s the incredible people. Thank you for bringing your patience, positivity, kindness, and sense of adventure to the water all weekend long.

To everyone who swam, supported, volunteered, waited in line, laughed with us, and shared the experience – thank you for making it one to remember.

Tag yourselves, tag your swimming buddies, and share your favourite memory from the weekend below. ⬇️

We already can’t wait for next year.

Coastal Wild Swim Boat Trip

There’s something special about experiencing the Pembrokeshire coastline from the water.

Our full-day Coastal Wild Swim Boat Trip takes you beyond the beaches and footpaths to hidden caves, sea arches, secluded coves and crystal-clear swim spots that few people ever get to see.

With over 5 hours spent on and in the water, you can swim, snorkel, explore or simply relax on board and soak up the incredible scenery. Every trip is different as we choose the most sheltered and beautiful locations on the day.

We’re proud to partner with Pembrokeshire Boat Charters to create an unforgettable experience that combines adventure, wildlife, exploration and pure freedom.

Guests regularly describe the experience as:
“a unique experience”
“safe and well looked after”
and praise the team’s local knowledge and passion for the coastline.

Whether you’re a confident swimmer, a casual dipper or simply want to enjoy a spectacular day on the water, this trip is for you.

☀️ Departing from Milford Haven or Neyland
☀️ Bring plenty of food, drinks and snacks for the day
☀️ Keep an eye out for seals, seabirds, dolphins and more

Who would you bring on this adventure?

What an incredible Bank Holiday weekend at The Big Retreat Festival! 💙

A huge THANK YOU to every single one of you who joined us for wild swimming. Over 400 swimmers took to the water across the weekend, and we were blown away by your positivity, patience, and kindness.

Many of you queued for two hours or more on Sunday in the incredible heat, yet your festival spirit never wavered. You cheered each other on, shared smiles, and made the experience so special for everyone involved.

We also hosted our very first night swim at this venue, and what a sight it was! Torches, tow floats, and glow sticks illuminated the water, creating a truly magical atmosphere.

This was our biggest team ever, with 20 amazing staff and volunteers helping to keep everyone safe and supported throughout the weekend.

We loved every minute of it and feel incredibly grateful to have shared the water with such a fantastic community.

Thank you for making it unforgettable. We can’t wait to see you all again next year!

Great turn out for Surfers Against Sewage Paddle Out Protest today at Broad Haven beach.
Why in 2026 do we have to risk swimming in human excrement because no one is controlling what the water companies are doing?
They’re just getting richer and literally don’t care, despite people getting ill.
Enough now, this has to stop.

We went on a little holiday! Even took the signs off the van so we were incognito!! 🥸
Scotland you are unbelievable! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

1650+ miles
10 ferries, 4 islands
17 stunningly gorgeous swims from glassy early morning lochs to Caribbean looking beaches with aqua coloured water, friendly locals (sheep included!) and other visitors and delicious food too.
All under the most amazing and HUGE backdrop of mountains and moorland, remote & beautiful. It makes you feel so small!
Eagles, deer, a pine Martin, baby lambs, birdsong everywhere and so many cuckoos!

We did so much yet there was still so much we didn’t get to do!

What this trip has made me realise is that I’m really good at doing this sort of thing! I can plan and choose venues that make the most of our U.K. weather.
We’ve still a few places on our October retreat this year.. why not join us here in Pembrokeshire for some magical cold water plus yoga, breathwork and delicious food. Accomodation included.
