Tough times for the Pathbreakers.
The Pathbreakers were back in action today against a very physical and well schooled Belmont side. The first 15mins of the game and it could of went either way, both sides battled for the lead but the quality of play began to show through and Belmont started to take the initiative forcing the Pathbreakers onto the back foot.
Before kick off the coaches had a chat with the kids about taking the easy pass instead of launching the ball forward, creating space for one another and moving the ball about, they showed in the first 15 minutes that they are more than capable of doing it, however speed and energy began to show its head, causing Belmont to show there qualities and begin tightening the screw.
The kids put all the effort they could today but ultimately came up short against a very good side, no disgrace in the teams willingness to try but quality showed unfortunately.
No goals today but the bar was rattled a couple of times when we were able to get forward.
Because of the team work ethic today we couldn’t decide on a coaches player of the match, the opposition coaches picked Lily who battled for every ball, tracking her player whilst showing several battle scars with kicks and boots flying in.
Special shout out to Matty who asked to play the 2nd half in goal and allow Jude to have a run outfield.
Parents player was given to Emily who ran her legs off trying to press for every ball, it’s not easy playing up a year against boys but she never gave in and didn’t look out of place.
With a break next weekend due to lack of numbers it gives everyone a chance to reflect on a tough start to the season, We move on to the next one.
