Have a designated space which becomes your baby’s feeding area.
When they are trying foods for the first time, they may spit it back out, they have been used to a sucking action previously, taking food from a spoon is very different.
When weaning it is best to introduce savoury foods first, they can easily show preference to sweeter fruit, introduce one food at a time to begin with so if there is a sensitivity to anything you know what it is. Start with vegetables such as carrot, broccoli, potatoes, cauliflower etc.
Readymade baby food usually contains a fruit or something sweet so I would minimise the use of pre bought packets.
I always steam vegetables. To begin with a baby is still getting the nutrition they needs from the milk but it is a good habit to get into to maximise on the vitamin content of the food. Blend it using a food mixer or hand blender.
Most fruit and vegetables can be frozen. Freeze in ice cube trays then transfer to sandwich bags once frozen, label what they are and when they are made/best before date. Start with one food at a time then start combining flavours. Buy a few small tubs and label as you go can be more convenient if out and about, You can just grab a tub out of the freezer and take it with you.
Embrace the mess and enjoy their little facial expressions, as they are trying new tastes.
