Forest roads used by the rally route and unwaymarked trails interacting with the rally route will also be closed (including trails in the Angry Sheep/Greenwing area).

⚠️ Tree felling operations have started this week at Glentress and Innerleithen.

At Glentress felling is in the upper Magic Mushroom area ongoing until the end of April 2026. Here’s how the trails are affected:

• First half of Magic Mushroom on the Red/Black Route closed 7 days/week with a diversion rejoining second half of Magic Mushroom

• Hit Squad Hill on the Red Route closed with diversion via forest road (Monday - Friday)

• Pie Run and Mushroom Pie closed (Monday - Friday)

• Black link trail from Mud and Roots exit to Pie Run entry junction closed (Monday - Friday)

• The main forest road through the worksite remains open (for climbing up to Twitcher etc.) but delays possible - please follow onsite signage and instructions from the lovely bankspersons who’ll meet you to enable access through.

From late March 2026 felling will start in the next area along the forest road that leads to Harry’s Blue. This will mean from late March Harry’s Blue will be closed Monday - Friday and Matrix/Lombard Street on the Red and Double X/Head Over Heels on the Black will be closed Monday - Friday initially then 7 days/week as works progress.

At Innerleithen (Traquair Forest) tree felling has started in the Armour Burn area between Plora Quarry and the start of Cadon Bank (post 41 - 43 on the XC Trail). Until the end of June 2026:

• the forest road between post 41 - 43 closed Monday - Friday (no through access possible weekdays from the exit of Angry Sheep to start of Cadon Bank).

• Instead of using Angry Sheep the XC Trail diversion (Monday - Friday) continues along the upper forest road, down the Push Up Path then along the lower forest road ending at the start of Cadon Bank.

Please follow all onsite signage and instructions from staff onsite - to keep everyone safe and help avoid delays to the work/reopening of trails. Thank you!

Good news! We’ve been able to get most of the mountain bike trails at Glentress back open in time for the holidays, following Storm Bram. Here’s a quick summary:

• Skills Area and Taster Trails - all open

• Newer flow trails - all open except final parts of Smells Like Tweed Spirit and Castle Black (closed for trail rebuild/maintenance)

• Lower Green Route - all open

• Blue Route - all open

• Red Route - mostly open except Falla Brae closed at Good Game turn off due considerable storm damage on next Red and Black sections (diversion via Blue Route back to Visitor Centre).

• Black Route - part open. Open up to Mast then diverted on Carls Lane via Spookywood, Mud and Roots and Hit Squad Hill to Double X

It’s been a big few days clearing storm damaged trees and fixing trail damage. A huge thank you to tree surgeons Lewis Cowe and Gavin Wood plus Shay Hayton and the Forestry and Land Scotland Visitor Services team at Glentress for all their hard work 🙌.

Our Glentress webpage will be updated soon with this latest trail update and more details https://forestryandland.gov.scot/visit/forest-parks/tweed-valley-forest-park/glentress

Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year.
