What an amazing seminar with and yesterday.
Growing up with Best of the best being my all time favourite movie, it was such a privilege to meet and learn from these awesome martial artists and bring their energy, discipline and passion to my school and all others in attendance.

Jamie Woodlands Black Belt Academy
Competition Success

As 2024 was coming to a close, our team was out in force competing and representing their club and country.
A team of Taekwondo students were picked to take part in a national competition held in Bristol. The event regularly sees competitors from all over the u.k and also from Europe. The standard is high and those involved will take on multiple events including the demonstration of forms, weapons and fighting.
Students from Woodlands academy cleared up once again taking over 50 top 3 places and also the overall Grand Champion on the day with 16 year old Finley Jones receiving the accolade.
Whilst this more local competition was happening, 4 members of the team headed out to Vienna in Austria to take on the world at the ISKA world championships. This was to be the second year of world competition with students winning Golds the previous year in Greece and Germany.
Mark Dibley, Charis Derrick, Ruby Sage and Quinn Hutchinson were facing some of the toughest competition from around the globe at one of the most prestigious tournaments in martial arts. All 4 showed tremendous grit and determination coupled with a high level of skill from months and years of dedicated training. This culminated in podium places for all, including 3 world championship golds for Charis, 2 golds for Mark and Silver and bronze for Ruby and Quinn.
In a different setting, local lad Josh Taylor was stepping into the full contact arena with his first fight on a major Thai boxing fight show, held in Ebbw Vale, Wales.
Josh had been training daily for months leading up to the fight and his preparation couldn’t have gone better. Representing Master Sken Academies alongside Instructor Jamie Woodland from the Radstock based club, Josh was taking on a formidable opponent but his hard work, technical skill and absolute dedication to his training saw him win all 3 rounds comfortably to be crow

Good evening guys, it's been such a busy weekend so apologies this post is late.
We have been out in force this weekend at both the Annual Dragon invitational competition and the Wuma world's in Greece.
Everyone has once again represented the academy with Skill, determination, discipline and etiquette.
I don't have the exact medal tally at the moment but.....its a lot😀 and I'll compile a proper number in the coming days.
These are just a small selection of photos but as I get more, I'll post them up.
What I will say for now is that we are all immensely proud of you all, your performances have been amazing and win ,lose or draw...you are all amazing martial artists.

Great to train today with Grandmaster Sken Kaewpadung.
Always blows my mind how much detail there is in learning Muay Thai from someone who devoted their entire life to their craft.

Tonight the demo team were in action with our new uniforms ready for our first performances on Sunday.
Big thanks to everyone in the team and their families for giving up their time to work on the routine and to Claire for sorting the printing in record time.
We are going to bring the energy big time so come and see us Sunday at 2.30 and then again at 5.30 at the Somer Centre in Midsomer norton.
We will be performing at summer fetes around the area in June and July so keep an eye out for us 👊🔥
