🥇 We know parkrun isn’t a race… but finishing first sometimes deserves a shoutout, especially when we have photo evidence! 😅

A fantastic run from NFAT’s Ted Leahy at Fountains Abbey parkrun on Saturday, finishing first out of 618 runners in a speedy 17:13! 👏

This photo is from the second lap — Ted must have been wondering whether the other 617 runners had stopped off for a coffee or a tour of the Abbey! 😂

July was another fantastic month for Nidderdale Fell & Trail! 🏃‍♀️⛰️

🏆 We celebrated another Ladies’ Veterans team win in the Harrogate District Summer Race League.

🎯⛰️ We also hosted our inaugural Yorkshire Biathlon (fell running + darts 😅)…

🏕️🧭 …followed by our inaugural
Great Nidderdale Adventure Race (GNAR) as part of our club summer social and camping weekend.

We had so much fun that we’re already thinking about opening both events to the public next year…

🏃‍♀️ Harrogate District Summer Race League 2026 – What a season! 💙🩵

The final league standings are in… and what a summer it’s been for Nidderdale Fell & Trail!

🥇 Women’s Veterans Team Champions – retaining the title for another year! 🏆

🥉 Women’s Team – 3rd place

🥉 Elite Team – 3rd place, missing out on second by just 2 seconds after four races!

There were some fantastic individual performances too, with:
👏 Heather – 2nd overall lady and 1st FV35
👏 Mel – 2nd FV40
👏 Colleen – 3rd FV35
👏 Alistair – 4th overall
👏 Ted – 7th overall and 1st MV50
👏 Stephen – 14th overall

And to everyone else who pulled on the club vest this summer – thank you. Every runner, every cheer from the sidelines and every bit of support helped make this another brilliant league season.

In the words of our Captain: ‘583 runners across the four races - for a small club we’re clearly punching above our weight and you should all be very proud!’

Finally… after four attempts we’ve almost mastered the art of the team photo. 😅 We still managed to miss Heather, the flag blew the wrong way, and Hayley hilariously only just scraped in, but it’s certainly our best attempt of the season! 😅

Congratulations to everyone involved, and thank you to all our host clubs and the volunteers who made another fantastic Harrogate District Summer Race League possible.

🏆 Congratulations to our Run Nidderdale 10K FV40 winner, Lizette! 🏆

Our handcrafted curlew trophy from the Run Nidderdale 10K has finally winged its way to its rightful home! After heading off before the presentations, Lizette didn’t realise she’d won the FV40 category, so was delighted to discover there was a trophy waiting for her!

It was wonderful to hear how happy she was, and these fantastic photos absolutely made our day. We think Charlie might be just as taken with the trophy as Lizette! 🐶😊

Congratulations again to Lizette of Ripon Triathlon Club on becoming our Run Nidderdale 2026 FV40 category winner in what turned out to be a very competitive field. We hope to see you back in Nidderdale very soon! 💚🐦

He did it! 🏔️🎉

Huge congratulations to Dan on completing the legendary Bob Graham Round in an incredible 22 hours 24 minutes!

Covering around 66 miles (106 km), 42 Lake District summits and approximately 27,000 feet (8,200 m) of ascent, it’s one of the UK’s toughest endurance challenges. Finishing in 22:24 is a phenomenal achievement and the reward for months of dedication, training and meticulous preparation.

When asked how it had gone, Dan’s reply summed it up perfectly:

“I’m knackered but super happy!” 😄

A huge thank you to everyone who supported, paced, navigated and crewed throughout the day and night. A Bob Graham is an extraordinary feat of teamwork as well as an incredible individual achievement. Thank you to everyone who helped Dan achieve his goal - especially, Andy E, Andy I, Alistair, Ted, Stu, Paul, Helen, Nicola, Mel and of course ‘Dad’!

Congratulations, Dan – everyone at Nidderdale Fell & Trail is incredibly proud of you! 👏💙⛰️

Good luck to our very own Dan as he sets off tonight on one of the UK’s toughest endurance challenges – the legendary Bob Graham Round! 🏔️

The challenge? To visit 42 Lakeland summits and return to Keswick’s Moot Hall within 24 hours. Covering around 66 miles (106 km) with approximately 27,000 feet (8,200 m) of ascent, it’s a test of endurance, navigation, resilience and determination.

We’ll be following Dan’s progress throughout the day and sharing a few updates in our Stories, but for now we just want to wish him the very best of luck.

One final chance to get the team photo right… 😅

A huge thank you to Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers for another fantastic Summer League race. The stunning views and brilliant mix of road and trail make this one of our favourite fixtures on the calendar – as a bunch of Fell and Trail runners, we appreciated the chance to get our shoes dusty! 😅🌿

Massive congratulations as well to all our runners who put in phenomenal efforts on an evening of record-breaking June temperatures. ☀️🔥

As for the team photo… at least this week the sun wasn’t directly behind us and you can actually see our faces! Unfortunately, in our rush to get everyone together, we somehow managed to leave out SEVEN team members… so progress, of sorts. 🤦‍♀️📸

With one final race to go, the stakes are high:

🏃‍♀️ Can our Vet Ladies retain their title?
🏃‍♀️ Can our overall Ladies’ team fight their way onto the podium?
🏃‍♂️ Can our Elite team round off a historically strong Summer League campaign with a podium finish?

And perhaps the biggest challenge of all…

📸 Can NFAT finally get everyone in the same place, at the same time, and take a decent team photo?

🏃 HDSRL Race 2 – Nidd Valley Road Runners 🏃

Without our captain to organise us, Team NFAT proved ourselves completely incapable of arranging a sensible group photo… but thankfully we all managed to find our way to the start line unassisted and enjoyed a fabulous evening of racing courtesy of Nidd Valley Road Runners! 😄

The evening saw some outstanding NFAT performances, category wins and impressive perseverance through injury and illness.

Huge thanks to NVRR for putting on another brilliant event. A warm evening and a fast, mixed-terrain course made for a brilliant challenge.

If anything, the finish-line water station was even more welcome than the hot dogs and cakes… although all were gratefully received! 💧🌭🍰😄

We’re so proud of our Knaresborough Bed Race team! 💙🛏️🏃

Some of us went along to cheer them on, and what a performance they put in. Starting well back in the field, they raced with incredible determination, worked brilliantly as a team and powered their way past team after team – even making up places through the famous river crossing! 💪🌊

Whatever the official results, they represented Nidderdale Fell & Trail with fantastic spirit, grit and teamwork, and we couldn’t have been more proud of them.

Open Arms Malawi have shared some brilliant photos from the day, so we’re delighted to pass them on. Huge congratulations to everyone involved in such an iconic event! 👏

🛏️🌊 This weekend, an intrepid team from Nidderdale Fell & Trail will be taking on the legendary Knaresborough Bed Race!

For anyone unfamiliar with the event, competitors race a bed through the streets of Knaresborough, tackle the famous river crossing and, just to make things more interesting, the bed has to carry a passenger too!

After a couple of practice sessions, including a test of the river crossing, our team are as ready as they’ll ever be.

As well as being a fantastic local tradition, the Bed Race raises money for charity. Our team is supporting Open Arms Malawi, which provides essential care and support for orphaned and abandoned children in Malawi.

If you’d like to support the team (or simply reward them for voluntarily pushing a bed through a river), we’d be hugely grateful for any donation:
