I’ve completed 2 full Hyrox challenges and can honestly say it’s a very tough event. I’ll be working with Katie and Jude initially to help improve their mobility ( this is absolutely key) and build on their overall strength. Then we will move on to the individual elements. I’ll be posting regular updates.

Our CEO Katie Knapton and Judith Wilson from Weston Partnership who looks after our PR and marketing are teaming up for Hyrox 23 in London later this year. Eight challenging elements each interspersed with a 1km run. Robert Tvardek from Fighting Fit with Rob, one of our partners, is on hand to help with the training.

Sam : “I’m just starting month 3 and my clothes are tighter in the right places now but more importantly I am motivated and feeling great. The weekly checkins with Rob hold me accountable to the exercise and diet plan and his feedback is invaluable. Rob is hugely knowledgeable and he takes into account historical injuries to ensure that I can get stronger and fitter but remain injury free. His advice is supported by a great app which is easy to use.

Steady run/walk in this hot weather.
It is important to stay active even during these hot days. It is hard, but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!
You do not have to run, go for a walk, find some nice countryside pathways, and do some steps👍😇

Sweat and burning calories.
So what is sweat?
Sweat is mainly water, but it also contains some salts. Its main function is to control body temperature. As the water in the sweat evaporates, the surface of the skin cools. An additional function of sweat is to help with gripping, by slightly moistening the palms.
Does it mean I burn calories?
Lots of people think that if they sweat more, they burn more. This is simply not true. You can see people sweat out litres of it, and also people who don't sweat at all. So NO, sweat doesn't equal calorie burn.

Mobility training is the very foundation of any type of training and is often overlooked.

I am very proud of this team for completing our first relay.
Being part of Fighting Fit with Rob means to be part of the family, pushing our limits together and have fun. Training is important, but it takes more to make it something special.
And this is what I want, not only train people, but be the part of their journey and help them in every aspect of the life I possibly can.
Let's join us - Be part of the team.. and who knows, in November we can send out 2 teams!

Lat pull down
The lat pulldown is a fantastic exercise to strengthen the latissimus dorsi muscle ( some people call it the wings ), the broadest muscle in your back, which promotes good postures and spinal stability. Form is crucial when performing a lat pulldown to prevent injury and get the best result. So sit straight, avoid leaning back too much and pull the bar down until you squeeze your shoulder blades together - the bar shouldn't touch your chest. Do not go too heavy to show off, lat pull downs work well with a lower weight and complete control rather than smashing the heavy weights and leaning back like you want take a nap!
It's also a good alternative to the pull ups if you are not strong enough to do them without assistance.
Lat exercises are good for achieving a stronger back, reducing the risk of injury, stabilising the spine and overall core support. And - it looks good !😃
