I’ve had lots of messages today asking if I buy secondhand tack, so I thought it would be easier to put a little post up! 😂

Yes, I do buy preloved tack! However, I only buy stock as and when I need it, and at the moment I’m fully stocked.

Whenever I’m looking to buy more, I always put a post on this page advertising that I’m buying, so please keep an eye out for those posts.

I really appreciate everyone thinking of me and offering me their horsey bits and pieces, but unfortunately I can’t buy everything all of the time! 😂❤️

🚨🐴 ATYPICAL MYOPATHY – AN IMPORTANT AUTUMN WARNING FOR ALL HORSE OWNERS! 🍂⚠️

It’s that time of year again 🙄 and this is one warning that’s absolutely worth sharing.

Atypical myopathy can be fatal, and every horse owner needs to know the risks.

Atypical myopathy is a serious, potentially fatal muscle disease caused by toxins found in certain sycamore seeds, seedlings and other parts of the tree.

Cases are most commonly seen during autumn and spring, with wet and windy weather increasing the risk of exposure as seeds can travel into fields from neighbouring land.

🍁 HOW CAN YOU REDUCE THE RISK? 🍂 🍃

✅ Check grazing areas for sycamore trees and fallen seeds (often called helicopters).

✅ Where possible, prevent access to areas contaminated with sycamore seeds or seedlings, including those blown in from neighbouring land.

✅ Provide adequate supplementary forage to reduce grazing of potentially contaminated pasture. Feed hay from a safe source, ideally off the ground.

✅ Avoid grazing high-risk paddocks, particularly following windy weather or when large numbers of seeds are present.

✅ Remember that not all sycamore trees contain the same levels of toxin, but it is not possible to reliably identify safe trees by appearance alone.

‼️KNOW THE WARNING SIGNS‼️

🔸 Sudden weakness, stiffness or difficulty walking

🔸 Muscle trembling or excessive sweating

🔸 Reluctance to move or lying down more than usual

🔸 Dark red or brown urine

🔸 Rapid breathing or an increased heart rate

⚠️ ATYPICAL MYOPATHY IS A VETERINARY EMERGENCY.‼️

If your horse develops any of these symptoms, contact your vet immediately. Do not force an affected horse to walk.

Not every horse exposed to sycamore seeds will develop the disease, but the consequences can be devastating.

Not every horse owner will be aware of the dangers, particularly those new to horse ownership or grazing on unfamiliar land.

One share could help another owner recognise the warning signs early and potentially save a horse’s life.

🐴 CAN WE NORMALISE SECOND-HAND TACK AGAIN?! 👀😂

Because when did owning a horse start feeling like you needed a second mortgage just to dress yourself AND the horse?! 🤔
£200 jackets, £150 rugs, £100 riding boots… and that’s before the horse has even decided to destroy something. 🙈

Meanwhile, there’s perfectly good equestrian kit out there with years of life left in it! 🤷‍♀️

I’m a small independent business selling preloved equestrian clothing, tack and accessories, because I genuinely believe horse ownership is expensive enough without everything having to be brand new. ❤️ 🛍️

And let’s be fair… the horse couldn’t care less whether your jacket cost £15 or £150. 😂
