Iā€™m trying to cut down on sweet treats a little because I technically donā€™t need to carb load EVERY parkrunā€¦ so Iā€™ve replaced the coffee and cake with thrift stores and cat jumpers. Thatā€™s normal. Right?!

Who wants to join me next week? Weā€™ll parkrun somewhere posh. They always have better charity shops.

The 5km journey continues!

The micro context: great first 2km. Horrid last 2km. I never get stitchesā€¦ got a stitch.

The meso context: after a few years focussing on other areas of life and injury rehab, I started taking my running journey more seriously again last year with consistent, self-guided training. This time last year I was thrilled to have broken 25 minutes again. Now, I can run that for fun. I should be happy!

The macro context: it is incredibly frustrating to compare oneself to your overall times ever in journeys like this! 4 min or so slower over 5km, proportionally a lot more at other distancesā€¦ I know I can get back there in time but itā€™s frustrating.

The real context that matters now, and always: trust the process.

For those people commenting ā€œall I want to do is get round šŸ˜­ā€ - donā€™t worry, I got you guys too ;)

I LOVE a pace based goal. Itā€™s exciting and really gives me a sense of purpose.

But itā€™s not for everyone and thatā€™s the beauty of running!

And it also doesnā€™t mean you shouldnā€™t use pace or at the least effort as a tool.

Perfectly doable! In fact one of my athletes is currently training for sub-3 in 4ā€¦ šŸ‘€
