Welcome to Papworth Tennis Club - a 4 court floodlight club with high ambitions & a friendly culture.

Papworth Tennis Club is a small club with high standards and big goals. It’s a very friendly club and we welcome anyone who would like to give Tennis a go! We have 4 floodlit courts and have recently extended our clubhouse to provide even better facilities for members and visitors alike. Adult social matchplay nights take place from 18:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays, with Junior matchplay taking place from 17:30-18:30 on a Monday. Coaching in Papworth Tennis Club is provided by Over & In’s Alex Doffman and Diane Cobb, offering group and individual coaching for a wide range of ages and abilities from mini tennis to advanced adults who would like to progress their skills. Junior coaching sessions run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Adult coaching currently takes place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday mornings.

A tough doubles match in the heat on Saturday for Theresa, Adam, Clare and Bruce against Stapleford Tennis Club in the Cambridgeshire Tennis league. Honours were shared in a 4-4 draw in a well fought contest.

A hot one! Alison, Cory, Tao and Russ sweated it out for the mixed team on Tuesday night in the extreme heat. Despite battling hard we lost out to an impressive performance from visitors Huntingdon.

All the fours! A close match for our mixed doubles team of Theresa, Stu, Clare and Oleksandr on Thursday which ended in a 4-4 draw away at Chatteris.

Four courts full on Tuesday evening with the ladies’ and mixed teams in league action. Honours were shared in the mixed against St Neots Lawn Tennis Club while the ladies lost to 2-6 against Great Shelford on a warm summer evening.

On Monday evening Adam, Joe, Russ and Sam travelled to Steeple Morden in the Cambridgeshire Tennis league knowing a win would secure a promotion spot for the men’s 3rd team. They got it without dropping a set in an impressive win.

Our men’s 1st and 4th teams were both in Cambridgeshire Tennis league action on Sunday. First up the two Johns, Peal and Tomlinson, along with father and son pairing Stu and Alistair Proudfoot, recorded an impressive away win at Great Shelford Tennis Club to ensure the 4th team finished their first summer season on a high note. Later in the day, with promotion already secured, Will, Kamil, Alex and Ryan played out a tight draw for the 1st team at home against Royston.

Four full courts on a sunny evening last Tuesday with our mixed B team and ladies’ team in action against St Neots and Steeple Morden. Mixed fortunes on the night with a win for the mixed and defeat for the ladies.

An expertly taken selfie from Stu Proudfoot alongside Alistair, Aaron and Jamie from our men’s 4th team match away at Stapleford Tennis Club on Friday night which the hosts won 6-2, and action from a close match between our men’s 1st team and Cambridge Lawn Tennis Club on Sunday evening in which Kamil, John, Steve and Bob fought hard to win 5-3.

Mixed fortunes for our men’s teams on Sunday. Our 3rd team were away at 10is Academy Ely Tennis Club who we regularly have close matches with and this time was no different with the hosts edging it 5-3 thanks to a first set tie-break. Later in the day the 1st team kept their promotion campaign on course with a home win against Gransden.

Another solid home win for our men’s 2nd team on Tuesday night in the Cambridgeshire Tennis league against Haslingfield - well done Steve, Matt, Bob and Ryan.
