Our season is back for recreational practices, women's rugby.
Our first taster is today. 16th of September from 4 to 6pm. Come along and try out fun new skills and learn the drills to get you ready for a fun tackle.

The rest of the session for this season will always be on every Tuesday from 4-6pm, anyone is welcome even if you missed the taster session.

If there is any cancellation of a session, it'll be posted on this page and the uwswomensrugby insta page as well.

We our glad to announce that Women's rugby is starting up next week at the GHA Rugby Club from 4pm to 6pm.

This is a fun way to learn new skills and get active, while making friends. Leading this club is our new rugby coach, Kiki, a second year student at UWS doing placement this year with Team UWS.

Come along on Tuesdays and get ready to tackle away in the women's rugby club. 🏉

🔴⚫️For similar reasons to last week training tonight is being called off, with hopes looking towards next weeks fixture at home to Edinburgh⚫️🔴

📣 On the run up to exam season we’ve cancelled training this evening to allow for time off.

Looking ahead to the next fixture against Edinburgh’s 4s, we look to get a strong team out at the Anchor and put on a good performance against current league leaders!

⚫️Unfortunately, availability issues that have plagued rugby clubs throughout the country post-lockdown have also hit UWS causing our game against UofG to be called off.
🔴However, we go again and look towards our first HOME game of the season against 2’s next Wednesday the 13th October PaisleyRFC] 2pm
⚫️In preparation we hope to see as many boys as possible at PaisleyRFC] on Monday 11th @ 7pm

The rugby club will be at the Lanarkshire and Paisley campus today and tomorrow respectively. So come on down if you’re looking for some uni sport with your usual rugby or if you’ve never touched a ball before!

FRESHERS| We are at the Lanarkshire Campus TODAY from 10-3 with the UWS Students' Union Freshers Fair where you can sign up for Sport with one of our teams!

🔴⚫️REMINDER⚫️🔴

Training is once again taking place tonight at Paisley Rugby Football Club at 7pm. First game of the season on Wednesday away to University of Glasgow. So hope to bodies at training tonight!

Result: UWS students 28 - 12 UWS Alumni

The students have won the third UWS Alumni challenge cup!

Both sides played well despite the horrid underfoot conditions.

This now brings the students to two titles with the alumni holding only one from last year's victory at Thornley Park.

Thank you to all who came down to support the lads old and new, we hope to see you again next year!

👨‍🎓 Alumni match tomorrow!

The third annual UWS undergraduate - Alumni kicks off tomorrow at 12pm!

Last year the alumni took their first win in the challenge game and are hoping to take the lead tomorrow at Paisley Rugby Club, whilst the undergrads are looking to retake the lead!

Today, The West are at home for the first time in the new decade! Facing off to Edinburgh 4xv.

⚠️ The match was due to be played at Millbrae, Ayr. Due to the heavy weather in the past week the pitch has been declared unplayable ⚠️

The match has been moved to our original home, Thornley Park!
