A message from our President Garry Walsh
As president of Caledonia Bowling Club i would personally like to thank everyone who turned out for opening day . I dont think it could of went any better and it managed to stay dry for us to get a throw on the green. Massive thanks to all my committee for all their hard work running up to this day and on the day they really looked after me and all our invited guests especially my VP Stuart Turner who kept everyone watered and never stopped. I was very proud to become President in honour of my dad the committee ,friends and family helped me achieve the perfect day with loads of support and messages . I hope I made my dad proud . A big thank you to my mum for all her help in and to Denise for arranging the food and the lay out of the food , decorating the committee room and the hall it looked amazing . Thanks to Karen Wilson who also was a great help to Denise( or Melania or Donna she had a few names yesterday )and to Sarah Killens for managing to sell so many raffle tickets to a bunch of drunken boolers .Lastly thanks to all our barstaff over the weekend who done an amazing job and to Andy the one sandwich short of a picnic DJ who kept us entertained all evening as he always does ... Again thank you so much to everyone and Mon the Caley 💙💛

Sheet is up for new shirts and shorts order with Henselite. They estimate a minimum 6 week turnaround (could be 10 but we can hope for less). Sheet will be taken down next Sunday 19th April so only a few days to get your order in. Please DM club page, Caley members WhatsApp chat or append your name to Sheet in club as soon as you can.

President Garry Walsh Garry Walsh and his committee would like to invite all members and guests to the opening of the green for 2026 season on sat 11th April. For those able to attend it is 1.30 for 2.00pm start. Hopefully the weather will be kind so we can get a few ends on the green. We look forward to seeing everyone for what will be a great day. There is also a DJ from 6pm.

Easter Sunday at The Caley.

Our thanks to all involved in organising our day for the kids from the local community, especially “ Oor Lizzie” 😉

All the children had a great day whilst one or two fatherly figures had a refreshment to keep themselves hydrated. Hopefully not too much chocolate was consumed and the kids were not still jumping about at bedtime.

Community events like this are a huge part of what our club and members do for our local area and going forward we want this engagement to grow.

We trust everybody had a great day yesterday.

Draw for 100 club took place yesterday. Both February and March were drawn and the winners are noted below. Congratulations to all and a HUGE thanks to everyone that has taken numbers in the last couple of months, it really makes a big difference for Caledonia Bowling Club. I will try to get your winnings in your account today (I don't think there are any new winners in these draws).
We still have some numbers left should any members or friends of The Caley want to join our monthly draws.

Notice of annual fees :

As confirmed at our AGM the fees for this year are as follows :

Full member : £200
First time bowler : £50
Social (renewal) : £40
New social member : £20

Although our new constitution was passed at the AGM the committee have decided that for this year we will extend the payment date for fees until opening day 11th April.

Please contact any member of the committee if you want to speak further about this year’s fees.

Congratulations to our pair of Matt Revie and Gerry Dawson who won the final of the P&D short carpet Champion of Champions today at Anchor Bowling Club. Both guys played extremely well right from the first end today.

Commiserations to Jim Duffy and John Wright from Blacklandmill Bowling Club and thank you for a very sporting game.

The club normally closes about 5pm on a Sunday however … it’s not every Sunday that the football authorities, “in their wisdom” decides to schedule a Scottish Cup quarter final at 7.30pm on a Sunday 🤪

The club will remain open up to near kick off time tomorrow night should any of our regular Saints fans would like to pop into the club to lubricate their tonsils before the game.

Please pass this on to any friends that may wish to visit the club tomorrow.

Saturday 14th March sees the finals of the P&D Champion of Champions taking place at Anchor B.C. The finals start at 1pm and we are delighted to say that we will be represented in the pairs final by Matt Revie and Gerry Dawson. They play Jim Duffy and John Wright from Blacklandmill and the scheduled time for this game to start is 2pm. Best of luck to our guys, play well all of The Caley is behind you.

Just a reminder that our AGM is this coming Friday 6th March.. The committee would appreciate a good turnout for all full members.

Next Friday 6th March will see our AGM taking place. Start time will be 7.30pm. If you have any business that you wish to put forward then you can submit it to any member of the committee before this event or you can raise it on the night. A healthy turnout of members would be most welcome.

Monday 2nd March sees the semi finals of the P&D short carpet champion of champions taking place. Unfortunately Adam Semple lost his quarter final last Monday, however Matt Revie and Gerry Dawson are through in the pairs. They play Frank Moore and Peter Hewitt from Abercorn Bowling Club at Spateston at 8pm. Best of luck guys from everyone at The Caley, play well.
