Good luck to Richard King who starts for the Reggae Boyz as they face DR Congo tonight.
A win will take Jamaica to the WC finals later in the year and a chance for him to become the second Saint to play at the finals.

Good luck to Jacob Devaney who lines up for the Republic of Ireland U21s this evening against Moldova in a European qualifier.

Jacob becomes the second Saint capped at U21 level fir the Irish, following Killian Phillips who was capped last season.

One hundred years ago today St Mirren set out on their annual quest for silverware when they played third division Mid Annandale in the first round of the Scottish Cup at Love Street.

Saints lined up with :-
Jock Bradford, Andrew Findlay, Willie Newbiggin, Tom Morrison, Thomas Barclay, William McDonald, Mattha Morgan, Archie Gillies, John McDonald, Hugh McCrindle, Jamie Thomson.

Amidst wet and windy conditions, Hugh McCrindle opened the scoring for the home side in the 15th minute, before adding a second 15 minutes later with a 20-yard effort that took a slight deflection past the Annandale keeper.
Three minutes later and John McDonald added a third to put Saints well in control.

The visitors had several chances before the break but found the Saints defence and keeper Jock Bradford in fine form to keep them out.

Into the second half and the wind and rain prevented any real quality from either team.
The scoring was completed when Jamie Thomson’s attempted cross was caught in the wind and sailed into the net despite a valiant attempt on the goal line by defender Tom Wilson.

So, a comfortable 4-0 win for Saints and progression to the second round where they would face Arbroath.

Saddened to hear about the passing of former Saints player and 1987 Cup winning physio Bobby Holmes at the age of 93.

Bobby joined Saints in 1954 going on to make 116 appearance and score 40 goals for the club.
He scored Saints goal in the 2-1 League Cup Final defeat to Aberdeen in 1955.

Having played for Scotland at U23 level and the Scottish League team, full international honours were regarded as the next step for him in the build up to the 1958 World Cup.
However a bad leg break in training ground collision with Willie Telfer in March 1957 put an end to his international aspirations and was the beginning of the end of his playing career.

At the start of the victorious Scottish Cup run in 1959, Bobby scored twice in a 10-0 defeat of Peebles Rovers but his continuing injury problems meant that he missed the chance of glory and revenge for 1955 in the Final against Aberdeen.

Forced to retire in March 1960 he took up physiotherapy and served as club physio for Arthurlie, Albion Rovers and Dumbarton before returning to Love Street in 1984.
Most memorable time of his time in the Saints backroom team was undoubtedly the Scottish Cup win in 1987 when he erased some of the sorrow of missing out in 1959.

From a personal perspective, I had the privilege of meeting Bobby many times due to family connections and had many good conversations about Saints in particular but football in general.

A true gentlemen in all respects, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.

RIP Bobby.
Always be remembered as a legend around Paisley.

Wow!
Where do you start to sum up today?

We fully deserved that victory. We never let them get into any settled pattern of play. We hassled them constantly.
Even when they had periods of possession we defended superbly.

Shamal had a few top drawer saves at crucial times in the match. Defenders were blocking well and standing their ground.

We attacked well and could have scored more, but that would be greedy.
3-1 does not flatter us. We were well worth it.

Not a failure in the team. Yes individuals made mistakes, loose passes etc, but not one of them hid after their mistakes. They kept fighting and got their reward.

All three goals were well set up and executed. Declan John's run for the third was excellent. Could so easily have let the defender panic him, but kept his cool and simple pass for Jonah to seal the win.

Every player has firmly embedded their name into our history. Stephen Robinson does not want to be known as a legend?
sorry Sir. You are already a legend with this club and will rightfully be remembered as arguably our greatest ever manager.

Three top six finishes, Europe and now a national trophy. You claim that every player has developed an affection for the club and will do anything to bring glory to it. Well I am pretty sure that the basis of that affection stems from the work you have done over the past few years. The mentality you have instilled into the whole club from players to management and all of those who work tirelessly behind the scenes.

You fully deserve every bit of praise that will come your way over the coming weeks.

As a fan who grew up in the late 70/80s and was quite spoiled by being in the topflight all the time, then having to endure the dark days of the 90's, days like today are what it is all about. They don't come along too often so let us all enjoy the next few days basking in the glory before we all get along to St Mirren Park on Saturday to get our league campaign back on track against Livi. No more cup finals to distract us from it now..........until May of course!!!

So I'll end for tonight with a big thank you to Mr Robinson, Brian Kerr, Jamie Langfield and the rest of the coaching staff and directors etc.
But biggest thanks to Shamal George, Marcus Fraser, Alex Gogic, Richard King, Miguel Freckleton, Connor McMenamin, Keanu Baccus, Killian Phillips, Declan John, Jonah Ayunga, Dan Nlundulu, Scott Tanser, Evan Mooney, Mikael Mandron and Jayden Richardson for your efforts today.
Thanks to the unused subs Roland Idowu, Fraser Taylor, Ryan Mullen, Liam Donnelly and captain Mark O'Hara who played their part in support of those playing.

Also need to mention the players who missed out today but have been a part of the cup journey from the earlier rounds Malik Dijksteel (ice cool penalties got us here!), Tunmise Sobawale, and the three players who went out on loan to other clubs Oisin Smyth, Peter Urminsky and James Scott who all played in the group phase matches.

Everyone of them has played a part in giving us this day to remember.

Onward now to our climb up the table in search of our fourth top half finish.

Well! The time has come.
A chance for the team and management to cement their place in the history of our club.

Show no fear and keep it tight for the opening 15-20 mins and we will frustrate them, then who knows what can happen. Allow them all the possession from the start and their confidence will grow and with a point to prove they have the ability to destroy us.
We must not let that happen. Remember the last three games against them. OK we lost 2 of them, but they have been in front for less than 10 minutes in total.
We can do this.

But no matter what happens today we can be proud of everything we have achieved in the last few years.

Gt behind the boys from the start and keep it up till the end no matter what.

As a self respecting St Mirren man, it pains me to type this**, but I spent a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon down at Cappielow today at their football memories session.
Met some brilliant people and shared some good stories and lots of banter. Obviously picked a great day to talk football after last nights result, but a good day out. Looking forward to the next time, whether it be at Cappielow or St Mirren Park.

**- it doesn't really pain me, I just have to pretend to keep up the 'we hate Morton' rhetoric!!!

Well!

After the ups and downs and emotion of Scotland's victory over Denmark to reach next year's World Cup, with more than a little help from former Saints Steve Clarke, John McGinn, Kenny McLean and Lawrence Shankland, attention turns to current Saint Richard King who has recovered from injury to take his place at the heart of the Jamaica defence his morning as the try to see off Curaçao in their "winner take all" clash in Kingston.

Similar position to Scotland. The Reggae Boyz must win whilst a draw will be enough for Curaçao to pip them at the post.
A draw would virtually guarantee a play off place.

Best of luck Richard and the Reggae Boyz!

Jonah Ayunga just about to start for Kenya against Senegal. His ninth cap, lifting him into fourth place in Saints international caps list behind Alex Gogic (21), Keanu Baccus (18) and Alex Grieve (11).

14/11/2025

Jonah Ayunga starts for Kenya this afternoon in their friendly with Equitorial Guinea.
Hopefully have a better experience than Richard King had last night.

13/11/2025

Richard King starts for Jamaica in tonight's World Cup qualifier against Trinidad and Tobago.
The Reggae Boyz are one point clear of Curacao at the top of the section, with two games remaining.
Their final match is against Curacao in the early hours of Wednesday morning in a potential winner take all clash.

10/11/2025

Richard King confirmed in the Jamaican squad for their World Cup qualifying matches against Trinidad and Tobago (13th) and Curaçao (18th).
Jamaica currently sit one point clear of Curaçao at the top of their group with the winner progressing to the finals next year.

So everything to play for.
Good luck to Richard and the Reggae Boyz. Hopefully a second Saint to play in the World Cup finals is on the way!
