BACK ON THE ROAD!
🚨EMOTIONAL POST 🚨


Can’t believe I done it but tonight I ran 20k…weather was absolutely horrific…strong wind and torrential rain but I didn’t care at all I was loving every step!!


Said it before but the most powerful tool you have is your brain…if you believe in something enough it can come true! Might seem dramatic but there are days when I lie awake at night thinking how am I going to get through the next day…there are days when I want to take on the world and just go for it! Life isn’t easy and nobody has all the answers but if you find something that helps you through it then just keep going!


Some days I have no interest in doing anything I just want to lie in bed feeling sorry for myself thinking how could this happen to me…but something gets me out of bed every day and any positive I find I just try grab onto it and get me through the day.


People might read this and think “you’ve just went a run mate calm down” but running is my go to thing to get that bit of freedom and gets me through my day at times.

Some year of running and seeing the numbers is something else!


Was an absolutely brilliant year of running obviously right up until 3 weeks ago but my goal for this year was to run a sub 3 hour marathon and delighted I could achieve this and so much more with a 2.48!


Long road back to recovery now but I’m more determined than ever to get back on the road in 2022…marathon is all booked up for April and I’m going to give it everything I have to be on that start line…will be a massive challenge to be there but I’m going to give it everything I have to be there and come back from this horrendous setback.


I get good days and bad days…the good days are when I put everything to 1 side with a focus and drive to get through it…the bad days are tough and I replay everything in my mind and can’t understand why this happened to me but when that feeling goes I just try as much to refocus and through the help of friends and family I can get through it and the determination comes back to me….there’s so many people so much worse off than me and I know this!!!
All focus on the comeback and will be a great story to tell in years to come…might even write it all down 1 day!


See you all back on the road in 2022 🏃🏼‍♂️

What a crazy, emotional day!!!


The build up to yesterday had been crazy...I’ve trained for this marathon like an absolute maniac but that’s the way I do things...if I’m doing something I’m all in!


My target was to get under 3 hours so to complete the marathon in the 2.48.19 I actually can’t believe it but I’m so happy!


I got to the finish line and burst into tears and couldn’t stop crying for at least 15 minutes....the build up to the day, the hard hours of training...EVERYTHING just hit me as I crossed that line but I was so happy too!


It goes to show you tho if you want something enough you can find a way to make it happen through relentless hard work and dedication! Training isn’t easy but you need to put the hours in and you will reap the rewards!


There’s no shortcuts and nobody is going to just hand you it, you’ve got to go work for it...that goes for everything in life not just training!


I really couldn’t have done it yesterday without the help,support and encouragement from my family and friends! The kind messages, not just yesterday mean the world to me and at times when I felt a bit down there have been so many of you there to pick me up...I’ll be forever grateful and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart!


The marathon itself was an unbelievable experience and the atmosphere was unreal, the supporters really do pull you through it at some points!


As I said I wanted sub 3 hours...(4.14 a k gets you there) I felt really good at the start so got into my stride and just seen how I felt, I felt great so I just thought I’ll hold that pace...can’t believe it but I didn’t dip into over 4 min ks until k 34 which was a 4.01!


The last 8k was actually ok I didn’t hit a wall at all which was great...the feeling when I seen that finish line is hard to explain, it was the climax to everything leading up to the day, I could feel the tears coming as opened my stride then as soon as I got that line BOOM floods of uncontrollable tears came but I DID IT, I completed a marathon which is all I wanted to do... the fast time was a huge bonus but to enter a marathon and then complete it takes some doing no matter how fast you go!

Still absolutely buzzing about taking 10 runners to the Bella 10k on Friday night.

I’m just so happy we all went along and enjoyed it but it was a nice wee bonus to see that I had done quite well from a personal point of view too.

Another sub 37 10k this afternoon


At a wedding on Thursday,plenty of food and beers but got right back to it on Friday with a 5k…Saturday half marathon and Sunday running club 6.5k,wee 3.5k this morning too with a pal before 10k this afternoon.


Head a bit fried yesterday overthinking everything,wondering when everything is going to go back to normal….best way for me personally to deal with it all is run! We all have down days and mine was yesterday we’ve just got to try find a way of dealing with things as best we can! 🙌🏻👍🏻
