Really proud of what we all achieved last night, there definitely is life in Chess in Paignton and Torquay!

Having spoke to the owners (who actually aren't bad players themselves!), I'm happy to say the Club will now be held every Tuesday, from 6pm-9pm, at Paignton Harbour.

We had a broad range of attendees, from younger to older, beginners to experts, as it should be. Due to this, we will be looking to section a 'juniors' area of the room so they can learn at their pace if they wish. They are the future of our game.

There was also feedback on possibly having a more tutoring section, and I have had a few volunteers for this, so maybe we can organise this at some point.

There were some amazing matches, and some really good talent. There is talk of making a internal club to be put forward to the Torbay Chess league, a Devon-wide tournament.

I'm also progressing on a grant from the Council for chess sets, this is important as we were hearing players blaming the pieces for their losses 🤪

Anyway, hope to see you next Tuesday! As ever, free entry, drinks encouraged.
