Today we are delighted to report that we have turned the heating on for the pool in the leisure complex, ready for opening on Tuesday 4th May! Apologies to any members who have not received an email from us. This date has been chosen as it is exactly 6 months from the day we closed and it helps with calculating new expiry dates.
As you will be aware, COVID 19 restrictions will still be in place at this time and the Steam Room and Sauna will remain closed. We would ask all members to comply with the rules on social distancing and wearing of masks. For our part, we will be ensuring the highest level of cleaning and safety practices.
Because of the social distancing regulations we regret that we will be unable to take on any new members until later in the year, but current members will most certainly be able to renew their membership.
The main hotel will not be open until 17th May so in the interim period we would ask members to enter the complex via the door from the Putting Green and leave by the door at the end of the pool hall.
We hope that all our members have stayed safe during the last 6 months and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Best wishes to you all for a Happy and Healthy 2021!! We look forward to welcoming you back to the Redcliffe as things i...

So the ‘Tiers’ have all been announced this week and Torbay is in Tier 2.
This means that we could open from Wednesday 2nd December, but I regret to advise that we shall not be doing so. The vast majority of our business in December had already cancelled due to the ban on dancing, and a large number of the remaining bookings were from areas that are now designated as Tier 3, and therefore could not travel to us even if they wanted to.

Also the numbers of cases of Coronavirus in Torbay has grown in recent weeks. It is my opinion that it is not a safe situation for our staff to work in and I have no desire to put them at risk. We will, therefore, remain fully closed until early January - that is for accommodation, food and drink and leisure. This will remain under constant review and may be extended if the situation worsens after the Christmas loosening of the rules.

The office is manned from 9am to 6pm each day, but will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. If you have any questions or wish to make bookings for later in the year, we shall be very pleased to hear from you.

Wishing you all the best of health,
Stephen Twigger

Further to the Government announcement on Saturday I have to confirm that the Hotel and all it’s facilities will once again be closed from midnight tomorrow i.e. the Leisure Club will be closed from Thursday morning until further notice. Memberships will be extended as previously and hopefully we will be able to keep in touch with members better on this occasion.
Stay well, and we look forward to welcoming everybody back as soon as possible.

We write to confirm that, despite reservations as to how long we may be able to remain open given the current rate of increase in cases of COVID 19, we shall be opening the doors to Leisure Club Members from 7.30am this Wednesday 23rd September.
Hours will be as normal, changing rooms will be open - but restricted to two ladies and one gent at any time in the respective areas and, therefore, it is requested that members shower as quickly as possible and vacate the area, or preferably go home to shower.
Masks must be worn in public areas of the Hotel e.g. when going down to use the gym, and we would prefer all members to use the back entrance from the garden and avoid using the main entrance or going to the Reception Desk. Renewals should be done by card payment over the telephone.
PLEASE NOTE ......NO GUESTS CAN BE BROUGHT IN AND WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING NEW MEMBERS FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE.

*********** NEWS ON RE-OPENING. *************

With no changes to the Government guidelines on social distancing, and with a very busy hotel, we feel it would still be inadviseable to re-open to members at this time.
However, as the hotel quietens later in the month, we are setting a re-opening date of 23rd September, this being exactly 6 months since closure.
We feel that there are many members who will still not feel ready to return at this time and we are very happy to continue to suspend your membership for as long as requested. This will, we hope, reduce numbers using the complex enough to result in the complex being able to operate without restrictions on time.
The Sauna and Steam Room will, under present guidelines, still be unavailable, but the gym will be open with restrictions, as will the changing rooms.
If you do not wish to start using the facilities on 23rd September please contact us before that date, otherwise we will restart your membership automatically.
We regret that we will not be accepting new members at this time and members will not be allowed to bring guests in.

I would like to thank the vast majority of you for your patience and understanding. For those other few selfish people who do not understand that I have to consider the safety of staff and guests above all else, and have subjected my staff and myself to abuse and vitriol, I thank you for making one of my biggest ever decisions a lot easier!

Obviously there has been an announcement today stating that pools may open on 25th July. However, the devil may be in the detail and we await confirmation of the restrictions that will placed on us as to numbers using the pool at any time. These should follow very soon and we will then decide how to progress.

I thought members and regular guests would like to know that we (the 4 Management that are still working) are taking good care of the pool complex during your absence. The steam room is looking great having been completely re-grouted and a new ceiling installed. The spa pool has also had a good clean up, with missing tiles replaced and also completely re-grouted. The pool, although freezing cold, is looking very sparkly and lots of other small jobs have been attended to. We look forward to the day when we can open up and welcome you all back!

22/03/2020

In case anyone is not sure, we would confirm that with effect from 8pm this evening the Leisure Club, and indeed the whole hotel,
will be closed until further notice. Memberships are all suspended from that time and will be extended accordingly when the ‘all clear’ is given to open. We will have someone on duty throughout the day who can answer telephone calls and emails should you wish to make contact at any time.
We hope to get back to normal life as soon as possible and wish you all continued good health.
Stephen Twigger, M.D.

When it’s cold, wet and windy outside there is an oasis of warmth and pleasure available to you within the Redcliffe Hotel. Our Indoor Pool Complex is open to local residents on a membership basis (3 months minimum).
Alternatively you can treat yourself - or someone you love - to a ‘Leisure Day’ for just £24.00pp, which includes an allowance of £10.00 towards food, which can be lunch in the bar or afternoon tea in the lounge. Vouchers are also available on our website - www.redcliffehotel.co.uk
Please feel free to call in for a look around at any time. The fees are reasonable, with a towel provided each visit, free on site parking, helpful staff on duty and the other members are very friendly!

There can be very few hotels in England to match the location of the Redcliffe Hotel. This really is a hotel on the seafront and, more precisely, on the beach!
