Throwback to 14 years ago…
Me, dancing on the local high street — not for applause, but for hope.
My dance school was just 18 months old, and everything felt unknown. I danced anywhere that would have me — the high street, Asda, ten fetes in one summer — just trying to get people to notice, to believe in what I was building.
There was no social media to spread the word, no easy way to reach people. I’d spend hours each week delivering flyers by hand, and calling people one by one to ask if they’d like to try a class. It was exhausting and often disheartening. I wondered if I had made a mistake, if I should go back to dancing instead of pouring everything into something so uncertain.
But nearly 16 years later, I’m so glad I didn’t give up.
From those early days of pavement performances to now, LRSD has grown into a community I am incredibly proud of. It’s more than just a dance school — it’s a family. A place where everyone is welcome, and where every dancer — no matter their background, ability, or experience — has a space to feel seen, supported, and celebrated.
I’ve had the privilege of watching so many amazing young people grow in confidence, skill, and joy through dance.
I can’t go without mentioning our amazing adult dancers — who prove every week that it’s never too late to start (or return to) something you love. You inspire me endlessly with your dedication, energy, and sense of fun.
None of this would be possible without the incredible families who’ve stood beside us — showing up, cheering on, and believing in what we do.
This photo is a reminder of how far we’ve come — and how powerful perseverance, passion, and community can be. 💛
Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey. Here’s to continuing to grow, include, and inspire — together.
