Hurst Green Tennis Club in Mill Lane Park are holding their annual Finals Day this Sunday 6th September starting at 1.30pm.
Our members will be playing Ladies’ Singles, Men’s Singles and Mixed Doubles for the inaugural Devlin trophies, in memory of our club legend Patrick Devlin.
Non-members, or lapsed members are welcome so please drop by, say hello and watch some hopefully excellent* amateur level tennis.
If you are inspired by the tennis on show, or indeed if you think with a few tweaks to your game you could easily make the final next year, then have a look at booking some coaching with Glyn. The new term starts 7th Sept (for both kids and adults), and your first session is always FREE.

💫 Our juniors enjoyed a sunny picnic and awards ceremony here at Hurst Green Tennis Club, celebrating their hard work and achivements over the past year in coaching.

Well done to everyone taking part, see you again in September and watch out for our holiday workshops to keep you active over the school holidays!

It’s a high-energy fitness class that brings together the best of tennis with cardiovascular exercise. Expect heart-pumping music, fast-paced drills, and non-stop movement.

Cardio tennis is all about fitness and fun, not perfect technique. Whether you’re a seasoned player or have never picked up a racket in your life, the drills are designed to cater to all fitness levels and abilities.

Welcome to our new Club Coach, Glyn Limpenny

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Glyn as our new Club Coach for juniors and adults. Glyn is qualified LTA Level 4 coach and comes highly recommended, having built an excellent reputation through his work at Limpsfield Tennis Club.

🎾 Adult group coaching will be on Monday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday mornings. Plenty of classes to choose from, including beginner, improver, intermediate and a new slot for Cardio Tennis!
🎾 Junior group coaching will be on Monday and Thursday after school
🎾 Private or small group coaching available

🕯️It is with great sadness that we share the news that our Club Chairman and Coach, Patrick Devlin, has passed away.

Patrick was at the heart of our tennis community for many years. If you joined Hurst Green Tennis Club, Patrick was usually one of the first people you met. His dedication, leadership, and passion for the club helped shape it into the welcoming and vibrant place we all enjoy today. Whether on the court, at club events, or working behind the scenes, he always gave his time generously and cared deeply about our members and the future of the club.

Patrick had a particular passion for encouraging local children to play tennis. As a member of Titsey Rotary Club, Patrick used Rotary funding to support children get involved with sports, and together with his wife Debbie and coach James, built the junior coaching programme growing it to more than 70 children playing regularly today. Patrick worked closely with local schools to deliver coaching, organised summer camps and initiatives that offered free tennis to beginners, helping many young people take their first steps in the sport. Under Patrick’s guidance and support, two teenage players also went on to gain their accreditation as tennis leaders.

He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time.

Further information about how we as a Club will remember and celebrate Patricks’s life will be shared in due course.
