How did I really feel covering 75 miles on my own?

23 hours solo was relentless.

Was it the weather? The course? Being on my own? Probably a bit of all three.

Every lap I came back to Sarah, who kept me fed, organised and moving. Every time I arrived, I wanted to stay. But I didn’t. The clock kept ticking.

The first marathon was tough mentally. Every lap felt like an effort. Rain, mud, wind and steamed-up glasses meant I could barely see where I was going.

At 25 miles, I made it back to camp. People, food, dry clothes and familiar faces completely recharged me.

The second marathon felt better. I stopped counting miles and started counting laps.

Then came the darkness. Silence. Fatigue. Feeling sick. Not wanting to eat. Wanting it all to be over.

The final hours were spent arguing with myself. Could I make 80 miles? Should I stop? Should I sleep?

In the end, 75 miles was enough.

Crossing the finish line and seeing my Smur-Fit community was the best feeling of the whole event. Not because of the distance, but because I finally felt like me again.

It was a strange journey through my own head, one I’m still trying to understand.

What I do know is that I’m incredibly grateful my body can still do what I ask of it.

Nutrition was spot on. Training probably wasn’t.

But I got it done 💪

1 sleep to go… final plea… off grid from tomorrow… back once it’s done 💪

The toe nail is off , the infection has gone…this does mean training has not been great so I am relying on my fitness and mental strength on this one!

The challenge?

5-mile laps for 24 hours…or until the body says otherwise.

If you’re able to support me, please donate — every little bit really does make a difference 🙏

Thank you so much for cheering me on, supporting me, and helping me dig deep for Ultra number 2! ✨
