Watlington Bowls Club to Host Prestigious County Clash - TOMORROW!

Watlington Bowls Club is proud to announce that it will be hosting one of the most significant matches in the club’s recent history when Oxfordshire take on Middlesex in a County Championship fixture on Tuesday 9th June.

This is a tremendous accolade for our club and a testament to the remarkable progress Watlington Bowls Club has made in recent years. Being selected as the venue for such an important county match highlights the quality of our facilities, our members, and the growing reputation of the club across the county. The match gets underway at 2:00pm sharp, and we warmly invite members, supporters, local residents, and bowls enthusiasts to come along and enjoy what promises to be a fantastic afternoon of top-class bowling.

We are especially proud that three Watlington players have been selected to represent Oxfordshire, making this an even more special occasion for the club. Their inclusion is recognition of the talent and dedication that exists within our membership. With a large crowd expected, particularly if the weather is kind, spectators are encouraged to bring a chair and settle in for an exciting afternoon of county bowls. Need to say our Licensed Bar will be Open!

This is a wonderful opportunity to support both Oxfordshire and our own club representatives, while witnessing some of the finest bowlers in the region in action. We look forward to welcoming you on Tuesday 9th June @14:00 for what promises to be a memorable day in the history of Watlington Bowls Club.

A fantastic evening on the green today as Watlington Bowls Club welcomed Blackbird Leys Bowls Club for a brilliant match in the sunshine ☀️

Great spirit from everyone involved, with plenty of smiles, friendly competition, and excellent bowls throughout the evening.

Watlington Bowls Club 106 points
Blackbird Leys Bowls Club 28 points

After the match, everyone enjoyed a lovely selection of food and drinks together, rounding off a wonderful evening both on and off the green. As a special final touch to the evening, Blackbird Leys Bowls Club kindly presented Watlington Bowls Club with a lovely plaque to celebrate their 60th anniversary a wonderful gesture greatly appreciated by all at the club.

A big thank you to all the players, supporters, and everyone who helped make the evening such a success bowls at its very best!

Watlington Bowls Club welcomed Bloxham Bowls Club for a county match, with the final score ending 14–10 to Watlington. It was a tough game in the scorching weather, but both sides gave it their all and produced a fantastic match throughout.

We’re delighted to be hosting a County Competition Bowls Match here at Watlington Bowls Club @14:00 and it’s set to be a fantastic day both on and off the green! 🏆 Our Licensed Bar will be open throughout, so why not come along, enjoy a refreshing drink to cool off, support the players, and be part of our wonderful little community.

What at a fantastic day we had at today’s Two Wood Singles! 🌞🥵 The weather was absolutely cooking hot, but it turned out to be such a beautiful and remarkable day overall. After some brilliant games throughout the day, sadly there could only be one winner. The final was contested by Sue Markham and Phill Potts, with Phill Potts taking the victory and proudly lifting the trophy 🏆 congratulations Phill! the Trophy was presented by our President Rosemary Lewis.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in today’s games and helped make it such a memorable day. We would also like to give a special thank you to everyone who contributed food, helped with the washing up, and worked behind the bar your support was truly appreciated.

A very memorable day all round. Thank you everyone! 👏😊👍

Watlington Bowls Club’s Two Wood Singles Internal Competition is happening this morning, starting at 10:30am and it’s an all-day event!

As part of our wonderful local community, we’re opening our doors to the general public, so why not come along, enjoy the sunshine, and spend a relaxing day with us? Sit back, watch the action, and soak up the friendly atmosphere. 🌿😎

🍹🍺 🍷Our licensed bar opens from 12 noon, where you can grab a refreshing orange juice or even a cheeky pint or a glass of wine to cool yourself down while you relax and enjoy the day. It’s a great chance to support your local community club, enjoy some bowls, and make the most of this beautiful weather. 🌞🍷🍻

Thank you to everyone who played yesterday at Tilehurst Bowls match which kicked off at 14:30. We had a narrow defeat on a very “interesting” green. Score were 87-70 we look forward to playing them next year. 🤝👏

Today we’re heading away to play Tilehurst Bowls Club in what promises to be a great friendly match.
Even though it’s a friendly game, these are the matches that really make a difference for our team. It’s always good to travel, experience other club rinks, and enjoy the game in different surroundings while building team spirit along the way.
