Salle Oxon Fencing Club

Salle Oxon Fencing Club Salle Oxon is a young people’s fencing club based at various venues in Oxford and the surrounding area. At the Salle Oxon club we concentrate on fencing Foil.

In modern Olympic fencing there are three weapons: Foil, Epee and Sabre. Children are able to start to learn fencing with us from the age of ten using metal foils and full protective gear. We provide all the kit needed for our beginners’ classes. New fencers follow a structured first year of tuition which takes them from learning the basics to being ready to start to do organised competitions. Onc

e learners have become more proficient, they are able to join in with our club sessions where the emphasis is on lots of sparring practice and preparation for competitions. Even though the club is still relatively new, we are very pleased that most of our foilists are now competing in young people’s events locally, regionally, nationally – and, more recently, internationally – with plenty of enjoyment and success. There’s more about what we are up to in the ‘News’ section. If you are between the ages of ten and sixteen and are interested in learning to fence (2004 birthdays are the earliest we accept), or are an experienced young foilist (eleven to sixteen years old) who would like to join a friendly and enthusiastic club, do get in touch.
