Queen's College Boat Club is looking for a new Men's coach to start this Michaelmas.

About us

QCBC is one of the world's oldest boat clubs and has seen significant success in
recent years, consistently moving up the tables since 2017. Continuing this trend and
unfazed by the pandemic, our M1 finished +8(!) and the M2 +3 in this year's Torpids.
We are looking for a new coach to help us build on this momentum going into 2021/22.

Responsibilities

We are looking for someone to coach 5-7 water sessions per week, direct land training,
and develop a training programme for the year. This could potentially include a
training camp during the vacation periods. You would also be expected to organise
training for novices to help promising rowers progress to first boat standard.

Requirements

We are looking for applicants with experience of coaching and rowing at a high level.
Excellent communication skills and technical knowledge is also a must. Qualifications
and experience of bumps racing is not required but would be desirable. Ability to
commit to coaching the club for more than one year is likewise very desirable.

**QCBC Women's Head Coach Vacancy**

QCBC is looking for a committed individual to lead our large squad of seniors and promising beginners to start imminently in Trinity Term. The squad has been building well over the last few years despite recent lockdowns and we are looking to turn this into success in Eights.

The job would involve, at a minimum, coaching 5-7 W1 water sessions per week on the Isis and directing land training. Pay will be competitive.

A successful candidate must have experience rowing at a high level, and will likely also have experience coaching. Evidence of communication skills is as vital as that of technical knowledge. We are looking for applicants for Trinity Term but those who can commit to coaching next year will be viewed especially favourably.

Queen’s College Boat Club seeks a new men’s head coach to start this Michaelmas

QCBC is looking for a committed individual to lead our large squad of returners, triallists, and promising beginners, to victory in bumps races and external regattas. Following the trend of recent years, QCBC M1 produced excellent performances in our recent Torpids (+3) and VIIIs (+3) campaigns, supported by a solid M2. We now seek a coach to help us prepare to bump into Div.1 of VIIIs for the first time since 1971.

The job would involve, at a minimum, coaching 5-7 M1 water sessions per week on the Isis (fewer in Michaelmas), directing land training, and devising a programme for the year. This would include a training camp before Trinity term. The head coach would also be expected help promising rowers in lower boats progress to first boat standard. Pay will be competitive.

A successful candidate must have experience rowing at a high level, and will likely also have experience coaching. Evidence of communication skills is as vital as that of technical knowledge. Applicants who can commit to coaching for more than one year will be viewed especially favourably.

What a huge campaign from queens this year!! We just want to say how proud we are of all our boats

After rowing on in 3rd place by rating 36 the whole way due to a cox box malfunction, M2 went +3 almost winning blades and coming vertical inches off GTC on the last day. M2 have been a joy to watch this week, its a great result and we can't wait for the summer.

W1 went +2, rowing over on saturday. After breaking both theirs and wadhams boats earlier in the week we're very pleased they managed not to sink. With the best torpids result the womens side has seen in years you should all be immensely proud, you rowed excellently.

And last but not least M1, having hunted down St.Anne's with conviction and determination, they then sandwitched into div2! Not realising that pembroke M2 had banked it they went on to bump Mansfield (although unfortunately that didn't count), well and truly earning their place in div2 for next year.

***QCBC Hiring Coaches*** Queen’s College boat club is looking to build our coaching team for next year. We are interested in hiring one or more people to work primarily with our senior boats, preparing them for bumps campaigns and external regattas. In addition, there is a role to be filled working on our novice programme, which could then evolve into coaching our lower boats during the remainder of the year. We expect applicants for either as men’s coaching, women’s coaching, or working across both sides. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a flourishing club and take it onto the next stage.

The two sides of the club are looking strong: the men’s side will be sending a couple of trialists to the squads while a retaining a core of returners. The women’s side have a strong group of returners and will aim to build on the previous years. The club fielded a W2 in Eights for the first time in 3 years and there is a lot of enthusiasm in the side to grow and develop further. The women’s boats are well placed for success in both Torpids and Eights, given suitable coaching input.

The majority of training for all boats currently takes place on the Isis; however, we would also plan on arranging club wide training camps both inside and outside Oxford. We have also had discussions internally about racking senior boats elsewhere, this is something we would be interested in having input towards.

Huge day on the river for all our crews, M3 and W2 fought valiantly, W1 put in a huge effort to row over with no challengers in sight - eyes on St Peter's tomorrow and M2 in the greatest come back of all time caught John's after coming to a dead stop earlier in the race. Finally M1 caught Mansfield in the quickest Div 2 bump, chasing Hertford tomorrow.
