Summer VIIIs round up!!
We are 3 weeks on from arguably SCBC’s most successful VIIIs campaign in memory. We achieved the highest average of bumps per crew of any college on the river, with no Somerville crew being bumped at any point.
With 7 crews total and 5 crews attempting to row on, W4 and M3 gave it a valiant effort but didn’t quite manage to qualify this year.
W3 achieved +2 overall, with some really gutsy rows.
M2 achieved +5, with the help of a spectacular overbump on day 1.
W2 went +3, with fixed divs in sight for next year.
M1 had an incredible week not only achieving their first VIIIs bump since 2022, but also managing to bump on 4 out of 5 opportunities and are now securely back in Div 3.
W1 equally had a very successful week, going +3, with the hopes of blades sadly lost due to a klaxon on Saturday. We go again next year!!
