Oxford University Badminton Club (OUBaC) was founded in the late 1920's and since then has been an integral part of Oxford University sport, with over 60 years of Varsity history with Cambridge. OUBaC is one of the largest university sports clubs in Oxford, with over 150 regular members. Almost all our matches and practice sessions take place at the Oxford University Sports Centre at Iffley Road.

Whilst catering for two different tastes, the club is by no means divided:

At Clubnight, players of any standard are welcome. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly, and there will always be like-minded players around to enjoy a match or two. The Squad offers the opportunity for more experienced players to compete against other universities in the UK and prepare for the annual Varsity match against Cambridge. If you are interested in representing the University both in BUCS League matches and against Cambridge, come along to the university trials at the start of Michaelmas term. Aside from the athletic aspect of the club, a wide range of social occasions arranged throughout the year give players an opportunity to get to know each other both on and off the court.

We have officially won🏆🏆Here is a congratulatory email from OULTC’s president

Firstly a big shoutout to for challenging us and bringing out the best of both clubs! We had a really ‘fun’ time 🥴(“running is just the worst” - .hadfield5595 ) and look forward to future competition 👀👀

Secondly, a MASSIVE shoutout to everyone who ran from OUBaC🙌🙌 It was an honestly astonishing team effort and to run ‼️over 1000km‼️ in a week as a club is a massive achievement 🥳🥳

Okay, let’s clear things up.....

We’re right in the thick of this running competition with OULTC🎾, and things are going well. Current standings:

🏸OUBaC: 423.5km
🎾OULTC: 332.2km

🚨‼️🚨HOWEVER... 🚨‼️🚨
Over the last few days OULTC have been closing this gap at an alarming rate😭, and I don’t want to let this get away from us, no, I don’t want to let THEM get away from us😤.

What we need now is a BIG group effort!!❤️
It DOES NOT MATTER how quickly these km’s are run, just that we log them on our OUBaC Strava by 6pm Sunday!!💪
(Which is actually turning out to be a lovely little badminton community😊)

This is a TEAM effort so feel free to grab a friend (Just one, as this is within the rules of lockdown, even if they’re out of your household) and get walking/jogging/running!! 🏆🏆🏆

I believe we can do this guys, I would love to see more entries from some fresh faces across ALL of the squads and from clubnight too! Everyone who is part of the club is welcome! 👏🏸🌎

Oxford University Lawn Tennis Club have challenged us to see which club can run 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️the furthest in a week on Strava.
So join oubac on Strava https://www.strava.com/clubs/oubac and get running to show the world what we all know. That badminton is batter than tennis 🏸✅
