𝐁𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭…
Hands up who’s ever been guilty of any of these 😂 I can safely say these drive a lot of health & fitness professionals crazy because pretty much all of it comes down to an industry that benefits from people feeling rubbish about themselves. Let me explain: For the longest time, the fitness industry (and society) has been obsessed with cardio and being thin. It has relied on people (𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯) feeling negatively about themselves so that they can be sold products/services that either might not suit them or that they don’t need all in the name of earning a quick buck. For example, this week 3 businesses have tried to sell me a nutrition plan that I can then re-brand and sell on as my own 👀 Wild. Without in depth knowledge of nutrition and how different things may impact different people it would be so irresponsible of me. That’s why nutritionists have a job!
The tide 𝐈𝐒 turning, women are 𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘥 to lift weights, not try and ‘𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬’ from pregnancy and understand the basics of healthy weight loss - but it’s still not enough. Exercise for me has always been about celebrating what your body can do and how it makes you feel. When you enjoy exercise, results come. Over time, I hope this outdated view will continue to change - but until then, stay savvy; ask questions, exercise for health not just aesthetics (but also it’s ok if you have an aesthetic goal - you’re an adult and you can decide what you want 😂), don’t buy supplements etc. that you haven’t got a clue about - and know that there’s no quick fix. Being fit and healthy is a 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞 choice. And one bag of salad ain’t gunna cut it sadly 🤣
𝐃𝐨 𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧. Remind yourself how lucky you are to be able to move your body - and steer clear of the fitness BS or people trying to sell you crap.
