Today, we celebrate the official 10th anniversary of Dynamix Dance Academy.
10 years ago today, (on my own birthday, no less!) I walked into the Horspath village hall, to teach 3 children and a handful of adults, street dance, tap and jazz… (ballet tap and modern was the day after at the Horspath Hub and I think I had about 10 children across the week!
And now, here we are! Over these 10 years, we found our home at Cowley Workers, where we have our own lovely little studio! I took on two incredible teachers who became incredible friends. We grew and grew and now have over 100 students and 4 days of classes across 2 venues. We’ve done a tonne of ballet exams, 4 shows, 3 summer camps, had countless parties, dress up days, bake sales! And my word have we had fun! YES WE HAVE!!
But was it all fun and games getting here? No. Not all the time. We had to find new studios more times that I care to admit. I had to keep the school going through a global pandemic. I received my own ADHD diagnosis (which actually helped me understand why I struggled behind the scenes with admin, organisation and overwhelm!) I worked through an awful lot behind the scenes actually. Although I don’t dwell on the struggles, I do often take time to acknowledge and remember it because it’s important to reflect on how far you’ve come and what you’ve achieved! Progress of all kinds is part of our ethos after all!
But I couldn’t have done ANY of this without the incredible support of every single family who has been a part of the DDA journey. Whether you came for a term or 10 years, you’ve played a massive part in a wonderful chapter which I hope will become a war and peace length novel! Without my students and their families, there would be no Dynamix.
So from the bottom of my heart…
THANK YOU. 💙
