💦 Let’s talk hydrotherapy! 💦

You may have heard both Steph and Diana recommending hydrotherapy as part of a rehabilitation programme, and for good reason.

As physiotherapists, we often use hydrotherapy alongside physiotherapy treatment to help support recovery, improve movement, and build strength in a safe, controlled environment. The properties of water can reduce the load on joints, encourage better movement patterns, and help patients regain confidence following injury or surgery.

Diana is also a Level 4 qualified hydrotherapist and has seen first-hand the benefits that combining physiotherapy and hydrotherapy can have on dynamic movement, rehabilitation, and the healing process.

We work closely with the team at Loyalwill Canine Hydrotherapy Centre, holding regular discussions about our shared clients to ensure rehabilitation programmes are progressing as planned and that we are achieving the best possible outcomes for every patient.

Does your dog undergo hydrotherapy treatment? 🐶

P.s A huge thank you to hillscaninehydro and the lovely Sofi, featured in this video, for allowing us to film and share a glimpse into the amazing work hydrotherapy can do. 🐾💙

The best outcomes happen when we work together 💙

A multimodal approach to animal care means bringing together a team around your animal, vets, vet physios, hydrotherapists, behaviourists, chiropractors, nutritionists, and more. All contributing their expertise to support health, comfort, mobility, and overall wellbeing.

The best results often come from a multimodal approach, where professionals work together to support your animal from every angle. So next time we suggest booking back in with your vet or trying hydro alongside physio, know it’s never about “passing you on” it’s because we genuinely care about getting the very best outcome for your dog 🐶

As you all know, one thing we do every single session is watch your dog move 🐾

Dynamic movement is one of the biggest parts of our assessment. It tells us so much, how they’re compensating, where they may be uncomfortable, what’s improving, and what still needs support.

It’s what we’ve trained for over 4 long years… training our eyes to notice the subtle things:
✨ a shortened stride
✨ uneven weight bearing
✨ stiffness through transitions
✨ posture changes
✨ muscle compensation
✨ tiny movement patterns most people would never spot

Every step your dog takes gives us information, and it all helps us create the best treatment plan possible 💙

If your dog has osteoarthritis (OA), you may have noticed the little changes creeping in like stiffness after resting, slowing down on walks, struggling to get up, or slipping on hard floors. OA is a common condition caused by wear and tear in the joints, leading to pain, inflammation, and reduced mobility that can make everyday activities harder for your dog.

Simple changes at home can really help ❤️
🐾 Non-slip flooring for better grip
🐾 Orthopaedic beds for comfort and support
🐾 Gentle exercise to keep joints moving
🐾 Stretches and remedial exercises prescribed by a qualified therapist to improve strength and mobility

Small changes can make a big difference. Contact us to find out more www.driscolltherapy.co.uk

We’re proud to be registered with RAMP (The Register of Animal Musculoskeletal Practitioners) 🐾

As the veterinary physiotherapy industry is unfortunately not regulated in the UK, organisations like RAMP help protect owners and their dogs by ensuring practitioners are properly qualified, insured and working to high professional standards. Steph and Diana renew their RAMP registration every year to maintain these standards.

So what does this mean for you and your dog? It means your dog is being treated by practitioners committed to safe, evidence-based care, alongside completing regular CPD (continued professional development) hours each year to keep knowledge and skills up to date.

When choosing a physiotherapist, hydrotherapist or other animal therapist, we always recommend checking they are registered with governing bodies such as RAMP, CHA, NARCH or IRVAP to help ensure you and your animals are in safe and qualified hands.🐶

As anyone who brings their dog to us will know - we REALLY… (and I mean REALLY) share in the things your dogs are working towards 🤍
If your dog takes their first steps after spinal surgery… that’s dinner table conversation in Steph’s house 🏡
If your dog starts doing things again that they hadn’t been able to… Diana has probably told Steph before you’ve even left the car park🏎️

We genuinely love being part of every win, big or small, for the dogs we’re lucky enough to support.

So today we’re celebrating two of our “Driscoll Dogs” - Indie and Murphy - who made it onto the green carpet at Crufts this year with the Young Kennel Club and did their owners incredibly proud 🌟 - an IMMENSE achievement for both dogs and their amazing owners.

Well done Indie and Well done Murphy 🐾

Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) affects the spine and can cause pain, weakness, or even paralysis in dogs. The good news? Physiotherapy can play a huge role in recovery and quality of life.

Every dog is different, and with the right care, many go on to live happy, active lives again.
If your dog has been diagnosed with IVDD or you’ve noticed signs like reluctance to move, wobbliness, or pain…don’t wait.
