Why I chose to be a personal trainer over working in a lab as a research analyst. 💛
A question I don’t get asked often, but one that says a lot about who I am.
I studied a science based degree with research analysis very much on the cards as a career path. Lab coats. Data. Analysis. A stable, structured career.
And then I had to be really honest with myself. 😊
I didn’t want to spend my days behind a desk or in a lab. I wanted movement. I wanted energy. I wanted to be active in my work not just thinking about activity, but actually doing it. Every single day. 💛
I wanted a career that got me up, got me moving and got me genuinely excited to start work each morning. One where no two days looked the same. Where I was using my body as much as my mind.
So I chose personal training and run coaching instead.
And I have never once regretted it. 💛
There’s something incredibly fulfilling about a hands on, active career. About coaching someone through a session rather than analysing a spreadsheet. About seeing real, tangible change in someone in front of you rather than data on a screen. 💛
I get to move every single day. I get to be present with people rather than buried in research. I get to build genuine relationships rather than work in isolation.
It’s not the path most people expected from someone with my background. But it’s the path that was actually right for me. 💛
Sometimes the best career decision is choosing what makes you feel alive not just what looks good on paper.
If you’re looking for a coach who is genuinely passionate about what they do, I’d love to help. 👇
