SHUGC Handicap Open (Doug Parry Trophy) - 29th August at Hill Valley.

A blustery and wet day at Hill Valley, playing on the Emerald Course was the venue for the Doug Parry Trophy.
This 18 hole Stableford competition was well represented and Oswestry had 9 players competing.
Prizes were awarded for 1 to 5 and in 3 Divisions - (to 9) (10 to 15) (16 to 24).

Oswestry players fared well with 3 coming in the prizes.

Congratulations to Karl Thomas, winning the trophy with a score of 36 points.
Dave Cain was 3rd with 33 points and Jonathan Phillips took the Division 2 runner-up prize with 32.

Well done all.

Titleist And Foremost Experience day - Hillside GC.

Our PGA pro James Davies and club member Andrew Webb participated in the Titleist and Foremost experience day at Hillside Golf Course on Monday 24 Aug.
25 pairs entered and despite some great scores from the rest of the field, none were able to match an incredible 4BBB points of 46 scored by James and Andrew. An excellent score with some exceptional golf played by both.

James said “the day afforded me the opportunity to take one of my valued customers for an all expense golf day. We had our feet measured by the Footjoy Tour team sharing which shoes would best fit our feet. Then we moved on to have a ball fitting then a chat with the European representative from Scotty Cameron who shared great info about Scotty and how they see putter fitting being something big for next year. We then had a hardware fitting before lunch and heading out to the golf course.”

James and Andrew both commented on the truly excellent course and can’t wait to play it again.

The course is extremely dry and burnt following unprecedented temperatures this year, yet despite the 5th official heatwave of the year the greens are superb, rolling well and are very receptive in taking a ball.
Thanks to our Greenstaff for their hard work, determination and resolve. Please note, the temporary smoking ban is still in force to limit any potential risk to the course and in consideration to negate any unnecessary work for our local emergency responders. Enjoy your golf and please be responsible and vigilant. Thank you 🙏
