Oswestry Olympians Athletic and Triathlon Club

Oswestry Olympians Athletic and Triathlon Club Welcome to North West Shropshire’s leading running, athletics and triathlon club. Let us help you move up at least one group this year.

Oswestry Olympians is north-west Shropshire’s leading running, athletics and triathlon club, located on the border with Powys. We like to think our friendly club caters for all abilities, from beginners to experienced marathon runners. We have a growing membership, currently over 140 adult members, many of whom enjoy social running while others will regularly compete in road, fell and multi terrain races of various distances in our region and all over the UK. Juniors are a vibrant group that has various regular sessions throughout the year. Our fabulous Run Leaders are there to help you improve, to run longer, to run faster. Our Monday run groups are structured so that we can support you through your current stage of running development. The Wednesday night efforts are ideal for improving your running fitness and speed endurance. If you have not come along before give it a go.. we work hard together, we have fun together. During the Winter we keep to the roads for the street lights, but as soon as the evenings get lighter, we’re off into the Shropshire countryside for some of the prettiest running around. On clearer nights, we organise some “head-torch” runs, where we venture into the country lanes for some longer routes. There is also a run in Ellesmere on Fridays (not organised by the Olympians), meeting at the car park at 6.15pm. In the lighter evenings in the summer we head off for mainly off road runs to explore the lovely surrounding countryside of Shropshire and Wales. Keep an eye out for the Summer Run schedules..we are always looking for new routes if you would like to suggest any. Training Groups

We’d love to hear from you!

We know that 68% of female runners said they have experienced some sort of harassing behaviour.

Through our Jog On Initiative, we are tackling perpetrator behaviour on the streets which can often create barriers to women running. This can include catcalling, intimidation and assaults.

What are your experiences? Do you feel safe when running alone?

We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of John Roberts MBE – a former Oswestry Olympians coach and a hugely respected figure in our club and wider athletics community.

John played a pivotal role in shaping generations of athletes, particularly within our junior section. His quiet, thoughtful coaching style left a lasting impact that continues to be felt today.

Club member Oli Blake, who was coached by John, has written a moving tribute which captures just how much he meant to so many.

Thank you, John, for everything you gave to the sport and to our club. Your legacy lives on in all those you inspired.
