From the 16 November the Canal and River Trust will start a six week task of clearing overgrown bushes and overhanging trees.

The work is between the Lower Frankton and The Queens Head.

Work will be Monday through Friday and it will look drastic in places.

All fellow anglers please keep an eye out.

Currently working on the new PR Fishing Membership cards, if all goes well they should be starting to get printed next week.

They will be printed on plastic card so will be a lot more durable then the current solution.

I will be reaching out to members via email to send a picture for your card, catch pictures are allowed as long as members faces can be seen.

You will notice there will be a WhatsApp group setup, joining is optional.

Trying to decide on when and where PR Fishing should hold a monthly or quarterly get together for members to share war stories of their last catch over a coffee or beer at the Queens Head or even somewhere in Oswestry.

What are peoples thoughts about this, all ideas are welcome?

I would also like to see what people's thoughts are on holding a small match either on the monty canal or at a local pool for example Wigmore lakes?

Sadly it was discovered today that some person/persons have been stealing and attempting to steal the PR Fishing signs from the Monty.

We will be replacing the signs over the coming weeks as we have to use Canal and River Trust approved suppliers.

PR Fishing welcomes the support of PC Nock
and PC Jukes of West Mercia Police and Alistair from the Angling Trust's Volunteer Bailiff Service.

Patrol conducted yesterday evening, no illegal fishing found during the patrol which was a good sign.

We will be continuing the patrols of the canal, working with the West Mercia Police, the Angling Trust and the PAAS through intelligience sharing to tackle the illegal fishing and poaching of fish from the Montgomery Canal.

All PR Fishing ticket holders where possible are encouraged to share intel with PR Fishing, however we do not encourage you to put yourself in harms way, lets get the Monty to the glorious days.

PR Fishing rules have been ammended to include the following:

All anglers fishing the water(s) must possess a valid rod licence and that this must be produced upon request to an authorised
PR Fishing authorized bailiff and government bailiffs.

We have just been loaned an Industrial Strimmer which we intend to put to good use over the coming days. (Weather permitted 🤣)

Specific areas of interest have been marked out to clear swims out so that PR Fishing ticket holders can gain access to the waters edge easier than before.

Last weekend a nice night session at Wigmore Lakes.
