Ossett Bike Park and Padel Courts

On Saturday morning Tony and Andy met with the leader of Wakefield MDC to hand over the 800 signatory petition in support of Ossett Bike Park.

The good news is that it is now almost a certainty that the bike park and padel courts will go ahead regardless of who is in control of the council. But we can't take our foot off of the pedal and we need to keep pressing, which is why Tony has stood for election for the Ossett ward on Thursday. "If we don't keep pressing the issue then these things can very quickly get dumped into the long grass, which is exactly what happened when I stood down through illness in 2024," said Tony. "If I am elected on Thursday then this will be my priority issue and I won't be accepting any unnecessary delays."

This facility will be a real jewel in Ossett's crown and will serve the whole of the West of Wakefield and beyond. It will also ensure that nobody decides to build houses on Springmill, either now, or for the foreseeable future.

A campaign has been launched to convert a former council-run golf course into a bike park and padel courts complex.

This is a reminder to everyone that there is a meeting at New Spring Church, Ossett, to discuss the proposal of the new bike park, padel courts, weekly park run and fully refurbished cafe with new outdoor seating area to be at springmill.

Come along and have your say this Friday 20th 7.30pm!

We believe that this is important because there are no council provided outdoor youth facilities on the west side of the District and this contributes to rising levels of anti-social behaviour and poor physical health leading to potential issues in later life.

Hi everyone, thanks for all the amazing support so far!

We would be grateful if everyone could please sign our petition to help get this over the line, we need to show that there is demand for these facilities in Ossett!

There is also going to be a public meeting to discuss the plans, which we will share more details about shortly.

Exciting times for Ossett and Spring Mill!

This will be a perfect community hub in Ossett including;

- 5 bike trails ranging from beginner to expert rider level🚲

- 4 padel courts with canopies for all weather☄️

- New paths around the old golf course to prevent mud☀️

- Weekly park run🏃‍♂️

- Fully refurbished cafe and outdoor seating area☕️

Hi everyone just a little update! Everything is still going ahead as planned, it’s just that there is sadly a member of the community who is against these plans and is trying to make this as difficult as possible for us. The park is still going ahead and we can’t wait to complete it for everyone who is supportive and as excited as we are! We will keep the updates coming as we receive them😊
