On Friday evening our Mixed C team played Manor Park G at home at Ombersley. We have a lot of families that play together at the club and the match was a real family affair. Joe played with his granddaughter Lizzie and Maisie played with her Dad, Jason. Fantastic to secure a 3-1 won that keeps them at the top of the division. Well done all!

The Mixed A team had their first match of the season yesterday morning, away to David Lloyd Bromsgrove B. After winning promotion from division 4 last year they are keen to progress further and a 4-0 win is an excellent start to their campaign. Great performances from Andy, Halle, Maraya and Theo!

Our mixed teams offer great opportunities for our junior players to gain further match experience and play a wide variety of opposition. Due to popular demand we added a new D team for the summer season and we have just entered a D team for the winter season for the first time!

It isn't surprising to find the mixed doubles is the category with the most entries in the club championships this year and matches are already underway!

Plenty going on again with matches this week with both the Men's A and Ladies' B teams in action on Wednesday evening.

In their first match of the season, the men travelled to Stourbridge to play their C team. A 4-2 win is a great start for the team after winning promotion to division 4 last summer. Well played George, Tom P, Paul H, Theo, Tom V and Jason!

The Ladies's B team played Hallow C away at Hallow. After a bit of adjustment to the tarmac surface they knuckled down and secured a 6-0 win to extend their lead at the top of their division. It is a large division so with 50% of the matches played they still have 4 matches left. Not a full team picture as some ladies had to head off after their matches. It was worth staying for some excellent apple cake though. Congratulations on the win Fiona, Julia, Gemma, Hayley, Caroline & Georgia.

Good luck to Hallow with their Open Day on the afternoon of Saturday 27th June!

Good luck also to the Mixed C team who are playing Manor Park G tonight at our club. Go Ombersley!

What a fantastic turnout of young players! We are so proud of our club juniors Leo, Luca, Seth, Annabel, William, Sebby and Charlie.

Introducing youngsters to tennis is really important to us at Ombersley and for under 10s membership is free. If you have a child who would like to get involved and try tennis please let us know 🎾🎾🎾

Just a couple of matches this weekend, but both great results!
Bromsgrove was the destination today for both the Men's C team and the Ladies B team.

This morning the men took on Bromsgrove F. Once again our team was a mix of junior and more senior talent and it proved a very effective combination, delivering a 5-1 victory. Well played Ethan, Adrian, Paul B, Leo, Paul W and Isaac. Most of the men had sneaked off by the time the ladies arrived but we managed to get a picture of Paul B and Leo.

The afternoon saw the ladies on court against Bromsgrove C. We were delighted to have one of our club's founding members, Sue H, join the team today to fill in. She certainly maximised her tennis and made a valuable contribution with both matches going to championship tie breaks! The ladies secured a 5-1 win which puts them on top of their division after 3 matches played. Congratulations to Fiona, Julia, Gemma, Hayley, Gill and Sue. To top it off, Sue treated the team to a bottle of wine!

With these two fantastic results and a successful social tournament yesterday it's been a great weekend for the club 🏆

Today we had a hugely enjoyable social tournament at Ombersley. This was despite the weather forecast telling us it would not be possible...

We are a bunch of optimists and our optimism paid off! Our two groups of pairs nearly got the round robin games finished before the heavens declared we should halt for refreshments 💦. And what a spread it was. 🍽️🍰🍓

We managed to get back on court to finish off the groups as the rain eased off and then stopped. We think we may have spotted the sun (nearly) for the final. Congratulations to winners Julia & John and runners up Tom & Fiona. 🏆

Social tournaments are a fantastic way to bring together different elements of the club and we look forward to holding more later in the year. Thanks to the volunteers who make such events possible. 👏

In the meantime, the Club Championships have started and this year we have a record number of entries! We have opportunities to play all sorts of tennis at Ombersley - whether you want social sessions, league matches, ladies, men's or mixed tennis. Do let us know if you fancy trying any sessions out 🥎🎾

Another successful weekend for Ombersley and great to see our juniors yet again stepping up and playing their part.

Yesterday the Mixed C team played Barnt Green B and a 3-1 win moves them to the top of their division. Well done Verity, Mark, Caroline and Paul F (who stepped in to play at the last moment!).

Paul and Mark were back in action this morning for the Men's B team. They played Stourbridge E at home at Ombersley. Juniors Freddie and Isaac moved up from the C team to play in the B team and gain valuable match experience. They contributed an important match win to help secure an overall 4-2 successful result for the team. Great performances from Paul F, Mark, Tom, Jason, Freddie and Isaac.

Our Ladies A team travelled to Halesowen this afternoon to take on their A team. Lots of hard fought matches with two going to third set championship tie breaks - one went our way and the other one we were just pipped at the post. Fantastic team effort from Nat, Gail, Carol, Verity and juniors Erika and Maisie!

All credit to Verity, Mark and Paul F for representing the club on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. What commitment 👏
