🤰 Hellllllo 37 weeks 👋

There’s a common misconception that with pregnant women the main reason they continue to “exercise” throughout pregnancy is with their “post partum” body in mind or to “bounce back” as the term so terribly goes..

The reality is, most of us just want to move for reasons so far removed from that. We want to move with purpose, with patience, for the endorphins, the social side of things & because it’s what feels good & what our body is used to 💕

Personally (and very luckily), I’ve been able to “train” with the same frequency *not intensity, I always have, although at 37 weeks that’s probably looking a bit more just like functional movement right now - which brings us back to basics and that famous saying “We train INSIDE the gym so we can lead a healthy and active life OUTSIDE it”. Those real life movements, that we are using every single day - from lifting car seats in and out, bending up&down to pick up toys, to having the stamina to play with our little bundles until their energy levels dwindle (someone please advise me on this one because I’ve a toddler with an unlimited tank 😜) and to all the twisting, turning & multitasking we do without thinking twice about it.

Everyone’s journey is so different - for some women remaining active throughout pregnancy looks more like Yoga, Pilates, swimming, walking - again it’s all about what feels best for YOU and bump and what serves your life style best so let that lead you on your journey and remember not to compare yourself to someone else on their best day.

🤰 Pregnancy and postpartum is not a time for competitiveness or comparisons 💕

✨H A B I T S T A C K I N G✨

One of the best ways to build a new habit is to identify a current habit you already do each day and then stack your new behavior on top. This is called ‘habit stacking’.

It is a special form of an implementation intention. Rather than pairing your new habit with a particular time and location, you pair it with a current habit. It’s like you always have a game plan for which action should come next e.g.
“When I see a set of stairs, I will take them instead of using the elevator”.

“Once you have mastered this basic structure, you can begin to create larger stacks by chaining small habits together. This allows you to take advantage of the natural momentum that comes from one behavior leading into the next”.

For example:

After I pour my cup of coffee each morning, I will meditate for one minute.
After I take off my work shoes, I will immediately change into my workout clothes.
After I sit down to dinner, I will say one thing I’m grateful for that happened today.

Again, the reason habit stacking works so well is that your current habits are already built into your brain. You have patterns and behaviors that have been strengthened over time. By linking your new habits to a cycle that is already built into your brain, you make it more likely that you'll stick to the new behaviour. Remember to keep them specific and achievable E.g. “when I get into bed each night I will read ten pages” rather than “I will read ten pages of a book daily (and hope for the best I find time 😜)”.

🤍 Ironically all my current habits are about to go out the window as baby number 2’s due date is getting closer 😂 but we’re all adaptable, right 😉

❓What habits are you going to try and stack this week❔

Finally getting around to reading .habits_ 📚 and it reinforces the idea that those small, daily habits, or 1% changes which at first may seem so insignificant, are a step in the right direction 📕
✨ Start small and build upon new habits. If we set out with goals too large they can seem intimidating and we’re less likely to stick to them E.g Aim to increase water intake by even 2 glasses daily and build upon that once the habit is embedded, rather than aiming to go from 0 to 3/4litres right away & feeling like you failed when you don’t meet your targets 💣 or for the person in a sedimentary job that is sitting all day who sets an initial target of 15,000 steps daily, a more realistic target would be to choose the staircase over an escalator or lift every time they have an option.
✨ Often we get so caught up in the final destination that we forget to celebrate the small wins along the way 🥇 so remember the journey is often more important than the destination ⛰

🤍 32 weeks of growing you 🖤
Feeling incredibly grateful that this little one loves being on the move as much as I do. Still able to train and walk daily & I’m get lots of extra “strength training” in with lifting and laying my Little Lord around 💙😜

🚲 Movement mostly consist of bike erg/echo bike, front squats, back squats, lunges, deadlifts, wall balls, kettlebell swings, ring rows, DB hang snatch/hang power clean etc. I stopped all overhead work from 28 weeks on and dropped to working below 50% weights for most things pretty early on whilst managing any PF pressure as best as possible 🏋️‍♀️

✨ The advice “listen to your body” is all well and good but to be a little more specific, concern yourself with any pain, pressure, heaviness, leaking or coning as “safe and unsafe” can often be relative at the different stages.

I love sharing my pregnancy training experiences but please remember that’s all it is - *my experience (and hours of my own research 🧐📚😂) Here are some of my fave accounts to follow… battles postpartum.athlete

To the person who is about to judge..
.the girl wearing make-up in the gym. Did you know that she never gets a chance to go out and feel pretty, because she spends all her time trying to take care of her children at home? Did you know that she tries to make the most out of her one single hour, 3 days a week?
.the girl wearing the bright leggings that show her dimples. Did you know that she was once scared to even go to the gym, out of fear of what people may think? She once thought that the gym was a place for the already “fit” people, and that she didn’t belong. Did you know that going to the gym, and wearing those leggings, makes her feel empowered?
.the thicker girl wearing the crop top. Did you know that she has already lost 50 pounds? Did you know that her self-esteem has sky-rocketed, and now feels that she could do anything she puts her mind to? Did you know that your opinion of her does not matter? Because she knows her worth now, and nothing is getting in her way.
.the underweight girl who’s in the gym. Did you know that she isn’t in the gym to lose weight, but to gain weight? Did you know that in her gym bag, she has different protein powders, snacks, and her next meal so she can do her best to try and eat more? Did you know that she would give anything to gain an extra 10 pounds?
.the girl who is using an exercise machine incorrectly. Did you know that she finally decided to make a change, for the better? Did you know that both her parents are on the road to heart disease, and she doesn’t want to end up that way? Did you know that even though she has no idea how to do it, she is going to get healthier?
.the girl who’s always working out, rain or shine. Did you know that her husband belittles her, and makes her feel like nothing? Did you know that going to gym, or taking a long walk, is her way to away from it all? That exercising is her way of surviving?

So, to the person who is about to judge.. don’t.

I hope this helps with anyone wanting to know the differences in before the new A L U L A range drops at 8pm Sunday 🚀 if you’ve any other questions feel free to ask 😘

As someone who is almost 5.5 😉& size 6/8, the XS leggings are perfect for me in all ranges - the octane, equinox & pocket leggings are higher waisted on me whereas the alula come up over the belly button but not as high. In terms of stretch I’d say the pocket leggings have most stretch, the equinox are like another layer of skin so I wear on a daily basis to work etc too, the lunar are very soft & you barely notice you’re wearing them and the new ALULA are very supportive and a “sturdier” material. None of them budge during training 🔥

As for the bras - the octane range for someone with a slightly bigger bust are for lower impact, the Lunar 2.0 is absolutely stunning but again perhaps more for leisure if you’ve got a handful 😉 The equinox bra is high support because of the thick straps but the alula bra might just be the perfect balance between all with the low front and racer back detail as it was high support too yet extremely comfortable 💕

Feeling grateful to be a brand ambassador for such an amazing company and it’s the cherry on top they’re Irish ☘️ 🍒
