Your workout is only half the story.

Training is what challenges your body.

Recovery is when your body adapts.

It’s when your muscles repair.
It’s when you get stronger.
It’s when your body is ready to do it all again.

Recovery isn’t just about putting your feet up.

Getting enough sleep.
Eating enough protein.
Staying hydrated.
Keeping your body moving.
Making time to stretch and recover.

They’re all part of your training.

The people who make the best progress aren’t always the ones who train the hardest.

They’re the ones who recover well enough to keep showing up. 🧡

Not every workout is supposed to leave you sore.

It’s easy to think that if you’re not aching the next day, you didn’t work hard enough.

But that’s not how progress works.

As your body gets stronger, it adapts. That means you might feel less sore over time while still making great progress.

This week, instead of asking yourself…

“Am I sore?”

Try asking…

“Did I challenge myself today?”

Because progress isn’t measured by how much you hurt the next morning.

It’s measured by what you can keep showing up and doing consistently💪🏻

I don’t think confidence comes before you do something.

I think confidence comes because you did it.

Walking into a gym for the first time.

Trying exercises you’ve never done before.

Using heavier weights.

None of those things feel comfortable at the start.

It’s easy to look around and think everyone else is more confident than you or knows exactly what they’re doing.

I think that’s where a lot of imposter syndrome comes from.

Feeling like everyone else belongs there except you.

The reality is, most people are still figuring things out as they go.

Some people are just better at hiding the nerves than others.

Everyone’s on a different journey.

Different life experiences.
Different levels of confidence.
Different stages of their fitness journey.

I’ve always been quite a confident person on the outside.

But that didn’t stop me questioning myself when I very first started coaching.

I had serious imposter syndrome.

I overthought everything and convinced myself everyone else knew more than me.

Looking back now, it’s funny that those thoughts felt so convincing.

The reality was… I was new.

Of course there were people who knew more than me.

There still are.

The difference now is that I’m okay with that.

We’re not meant to know everything.

Every day is a chance to learn something new.

Self-belief isn’t something people magically wake up with one morning.

It’s built every time you show up despite feeling unsure.

One day, the thing that once felt terrifying becomes normal.

It’s funny how that works.

They walk in feeling nervous.

The confidence comes later.

It comes from showing up.
Learning new things.
Realising you’re capable of more than you thought.

“I wish I had gone sooner.”

That was the line that stood out most in Annette’s review🧡

Like so many people, Annette was nervous about trying a new gym. Fast forward to now and she’s a fully fledged member, training regularly, building confidence and enjoying the craic along the way.

☀️ With the warmer weather this week, it’s a good reminder that hydration is about more than just quenching your thirst.

Water helps regulate body temperature, supports digestion, transports nutrients around the body, and plays a role in exercise performance and recovery.

The tricky part?

By the time you feel thirsty, you’re often already a little dehydrated.

A simple habit is to keep a water bottle nearby and sip regularly throughout the day rather than trying to catch up later on.

And remember, hydration doesn’t only come from water. Foods like fruit, vegetables, yoghurt and milk all contribute too.

No need for anything fancy.

Just making sure you’re drinking enough can make a bigger difference than most people realise💧🧡

Alex heads up social media, community events and coaching sessions...bringing energy, encouragement and a great atmosphere to the gym every day.

Kerrie is our Client Care Manager and coach, making sure members feel supported, welcomed and looked after from day one.
