Not the result we wanted yesterday but it was a fantastic day at the club as two well supported sides battled it out in a quality encounter, showcasing the best of Women’s cricket.

No sour grapes here as our girls lined up to applaud the well deserved Champions! You can’t guarantee to be on the right side of results all the time, but you can make sure you do the right thing. Well done to both teams for embodying the spirit of cricket 👏

The 2nds are at home to Bowden. This is the first of three must win matches that would would guarantee the title. Bar open so please come and support the lads.

This Sunday sees the final game of the Women’s season and it couldn’t be more important as we take on 1st placed Oxford Downs in a clash where the winner will be crowned Divisional Champions. Play starts at 1pm down at the Rec and I’m sure the team will appreciate as much support as possible.

We wanted to celebrate the team ahead of Sundays match because regardless of result they have had a fantastic season.

It would be fair to say that the last 18 months have had their difficulties for the team, with county call ups, injuries and players moving on creating challenges with availability. We had to concede games and rely on parents to regularly fill in gaps. There were even worries about the future of the team!

Fast forward to this season and it’s a completely different story, we have a settled and expanded squad who are putting in quality performances. The target pre-season was to grow the squad so to be competing for top position is a welcome bonus.

The turnaround has been driven by captain Lottie Howkins who saw the potential of her young squad and has worked tirelessly recruiting, coaching and encouraging to push the team to where they are now. A proper leader on and off the field!

All at the club will be backing the Ladies on Sunday whether following online or from the bar and congratulating the team on a fantastic season 👏🍾

After yesterday’s washout, our Saturday 1st XI were confirmed as Champions for the second successive season winning the Division 3 title at the earliest available opportunity. Although the weather put a slight dampener on yesterday there will be plenty of opportunity for on and off field celebrations over the next few weeks.

It really has been a vintage season with the side remaining unbeaten and producing some dominant performances along the way. All of the squad have made significant contributions and every player has played a match winning role at some point. Most pleasingly, the majority of the team has come through our youth set up. Mixed with the experience of our recent additions we hope we have a platform for future success as we face the new challenge of Tier One.

The Saturday 2nds will have to wait right until the end of the season to see the conclusion of their title challenge. After yesterday’s 2nd v 3rd clash also ended in a points shared abandonment they know that if they win their three remaining fixtures they will finish top of the pile, also securing a third successive promotion.

And of course, our Ladies team have their own title aspirations with their winner takes all clash taking place next Sunday. You’ll hear more about that in the week 👀

So over the next three weekends there is only one place to be in Olney. See you in the bar 🍻

An excellent day for the Saturday teams yesterday with both league sides coming away with wins.

The Saturday 1sts produced a vintage performance setting 350 for the loss of just one wicket. Jack Deal hit his second ton of the season and moves clear at the top of the divisional run scorers table and Henry Warren smashed an entertaining maiden OTCC ton in quick time. In reply Toby Griffin led with a 5fer to seal a comprehensive win. A still unbeaten 1st XI now require just 3 points from their remaining fixtures to confirm back to back divisional titles.

The 2nds battled to a very important win against league leaders Haddon and moved into second place off the back of it. A proper team effort with runs and wickets spread across the team. They face 3rd placed Kislingbury next week knowing the winner will finish the weekend in the top 2. It’s going to be an exciting finish for the 2’s who also have to take on in form fellow promotion chasers Horton on the last game of the season.

The 3s rounded off their season with a tight loss to Shenley. Most importantly though there were lots of senior debuts and a really strong squad is starting to form ahead of league entry next season.

It’s over to the Women’s and Sunday 1sts today who know wins keep their own promotion/title ambitions on track.

Plenty of support needed in the coming weeks so please get down and offer your encouragement as we enter the last few weeks of the season 😬🏆🍺

🚨 Team News 🚨

The Saturday 1sts are away to Brixworth as they creep towards the league title. A win would rely on other results to confirm the championship so the champagne has been tentatively placed in the fridge 🍾

The 2’s have a massive couple of weeks ahead as they take on on 1st and 2nd hoping to dislodge either to gain a promotion place. Everyone at the club is behind them as they try to make it three consecutive promotions 📈

The 3rds take on Shenley at Emberton in what will be our last fixture there until we take on our long term tenancy next season. A youthful side will be hoping to end the season well 👶

Our Women’s XI are also looking to maintain their title charge knowing that a win away to Oxenford sets up a tantalising winner takes all clash for the last game of the season 😬

The Sunday 1’s complete our blockbuster weekend of title challenges as they look to replace Harrold in the top two. Given where the team were this time last season they have shown brilliant determination to bounce back as promotion contender this season ⚒️

A win for the Saturday 1st XI yesterday confirmed at least a top two finish and promotion. It’s the least the team deserve after an unbeaten season so far. Attention now turns to securing the League Title in the next couple of weeks.

Another team chasing a Title are our Women’s XI who are just a few points off top position with three games to play. Their team is now confirmed and I’m sure they would appreciate your support at Emberton from 1pm

Teams for the weekend 🏏

The 1st team travel to Old knowing a win confirms promotion at the first available oppprtunity 🤞

The 2nd have the week off this week due to Westcroft’s resignation. This means the clubhouse and ground is taking a well earned rest on Saturday 💤

The pick of the weekends fixtures is the 3rd team taking on a George Sacre XI. With no game at the rec this is a perfect chance to sample our new home at Emberton and see what the 3rd team are all about. We hear the Bell and Bear also does some lovely refreshments up the road 😏

The Ladies are also hosting at Emberton as they take on Deddington hoping to keep the pressure on the current league leaders. Their team is being finalised and will be published tomorrow 🎬

The Sunday 1s travel to Dunstable and are also hoping to keep in touch of the promotion places 🚀

The Sunday 2’s will be hoping their luck finally comes in and their good performances are finally rewarded with a win 🍀
