Learn self-defense and life skills while building confidence, discipline, and strength. Jiu-jitsu is a style of fighting which originates from ancient Japan. It concentrates on using the attackers anatomy against himself, and as such is easily accessible to students of any age, size and sex and relies heavily on redirecting an opponent’s force, unbalancing them and locking their joints. It is a pa

rticular self-defence favourite amongst women as it can be executed with divesting result with only the minimal amount of strength required. Ju-jitsu uses many techniques which, when learned, can be performed in any order depending on the situation.

"I'm too old".

I've heard that phrase hundreds of times:
Too old to start.
Too old to learn.
Too old to get fit.
Too old to try something new.

Being honest, I've used it myself on occassions.

Even so, I've watched people in their 40s, 50s and 60s achieve things they never thought possible.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬:
𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐥𝐝.
𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩.

They stop challenging themselves.
They stop learning.
They stop growing.

And little by little they convince themselves that their best years are behind them.

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲'𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠?

What if the next chapter is still waiting to be written?
What if six months from now you could be fitter, stronger, more confident and surrounded by people who want to see you succeed?

The question isn't:
"Am I too old"?

The question is:
"What happens if I never start"?

If you do nothing, where will you be in 6 months time?
If you do something, where could you be in 6 months time?

Procrastination will steal your opportunities and keep you where you are.

Don't let age be a barrier - As Nike would say "Just Do IT"!!

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐟 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐈𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞?

Many parents tell me:
"My child lacks confidence".
And sometimes they're right.

But what if confidence isn't the real problem?
What if your child, simply hasn't had enough opportunities to prove to themselves what they're capable of?

Confidence doesn't magically appear one morning.
It grows every time a child:
Tries something difficult.
Gets something wrong.
Gets back up again.
Keeps going.

That's why I don't believe confidence is taught.

I believe confidence is earned.
I've watched children walk into the dojo hiding behind Mum or Dad - Barely speaking, - Avoiding eye contact, - Convinced they can't do it, They try to hide away hoping nobody notices them.

Six months later they're helping other students.
They're standing taller and believing in themselves.

Not because somebody gave them confidence.
Because they earned it.
Somewhere inside of them they found a spark - A spark that built into a flame - "I can do this - I do belong - I am worthy"

And once this process start within a child their confidence grows and nobody can take it away from them.

At Samurai we don't just teach traditional Japanese Ju-Jitsu - we create confident young people.

Last, but by no means least, we come to Ismail, who gained his Junior Black Belt with Merit.

Ismail, the younger brother of Aryaan, also had to overcome a number of personal challenges on his journey. Yet when it mattered most, he rose to the occasion and performed at an exceptionally high level during the recent WJJF Black Belt Grading Day.

The two brothers are a perfect example of what can be achieved when you stay focused, set goals, and refuse to give up on your dreams.

Anyone can make excuses.

Anyone can find reasons why something can't be done.

But it takes a special person to push through disappointment, setbacks, pain, and self-doubt in order to become a better version of themselves.

At Samurai Ju-Jitsu Academy, our role is to teach the traditional Japanese martial art of Ju-Jitsu.

But our mission goes far beyond punches, kicks, throws, and locks.

Our goal is to help every student build confidence, resilience, discipline, and self-belief. We want every person who walks through our doors to leave stronger than when they arrived.

The truth is, it's easy to quit.

It's easy to walk away when things become difficult.

But with the right encouragement, guidance, and support, people are capable of achieving far more than they ever imagined.

Ismail's achievement is proof of that.

So why not start your own journey?

He worked hard and overcame all his difficulties.
