We’re incredibly excited to welcome Sensei Anton Phillips to the instructor lineup for Sensei Calum’s 35th Anniversary Seminar!
A Godan (5th Degree Black Belt) and internationally recognised instructor, examiner, and President of the American Karate Federation, Sensei Anton brings over 60 years of martial arts experience to the mats.
Beginning his journey in 1966 at just 14 years old, Sensei Anton initially trained in Korean Taekwondo before transitioning through Goju Ryu and ultimately specialising in Okinawan Wado Ryu.
His dedication has taken him across the world, gaining recognised certifications in Japan and teaching throughout England, Scotland, Singapore, and the USA, where he now runs a well‑established dojo in Florida.
Karma has been incredibly fortunate to train under Sensei Anton during his visits to the UK, where he has delivered inspiring junior and senior sessions at our dojo.
His influence continues within the club — in 2022, Sensei Alex Williams, who trains alongside him, had the honour of instructing at Hanshi Mike Widdall’s seminar.
✨ This one is extra special — Sensei Anton shares a long and meaningful bond with Sensei Calum as his uncle.
Despite being based in different parts of the world, they have always stayed closely connected, sharing knowledge, experience, and passion for martial arts.
From a young age, Calum has been inspired by Anton’s journey and encouraged to never give up — a connection that makes this seminar even more significant.
