Welcome to the page for the Shaw SKF Karate Club, located in Oldham, Greater Manchester. Kimura Shukokai is for everyone!!!

The SKF has had a club in the Shaw, Oldham area since 1980, run by Sensei Keith Cockburn 7th Dan and has always been a proud member of the Shukokai Karate Federation, headed up by late Shihan E Daniels 9th Dan (KSI Joint World Chief Instructor & SKF Chief Instructor). Since then the club has produced many World, European & National individual and team champions in both Kata (forms) & Kumite (fight

ing). The art of Kimura Shukokai is the style practised at Shaw SKF follows the teachings of the late Master Kimura 10th Dan, whom Shihan Daniels and Sensei Keith was a direct student. Sensei Keith continues to train with KSI World Chief Instructors on a regular basis. The club has many senior grades who regularly teach classes throughout the week. Located in the central Oldham, the club is a family friendly run club, with a great atmosphere and enthusiastic instructors always willing to get the best out of all the students who train. Karate is for everyone, so whether it is competitive Karate that you are looking for, then we are actively attending regular championships catering for all grades, male & female, children & adults events. Or you may just want to train to keep fit and learn the in depth technical side of Kimura Karate. Although we partake in the Sport side of Karate, our main aim is for training and learning the true art of the martial art. Opening Times:

🥋 A LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE

Shihan Eddie Daniels 9th Dan
1949 – 2020

A pioneer of British karate.

A student of Soke Shigeru Kimura.

A founder of the Shukokai Karate Federation.

A World Chief Instructor of Kimura Shukokai International.

Shihan Eddie Daniels dedicated his life to karate and to passing on the knowledge he had received from his own teacher, Soke Shigeru Kimura.

In 1980, he established the Shukokai Karate Federation in the UK.

His influence continues through the instructors, students and clubs that carry his teachings forward.

At Shaw, we are proud to be part of that history.

His journey continues through ours.

🥋 THE LEGACY LIVES ON

Every punch. Every stance. Every movement.

Behind Kimura Shukokai Karate is a legacy that continues to influence generations of martial artists around the world.

Soke Shigeru Kimura, 10th Dan (1941–1995), developed the unique approach to karate that became known as Kimura Shukokai.

Master Kimura’s core innovations transformed Shukokai Karate into a highly scientific system based on biomechanics, maximizing kinetic energy and creating what is widely considered one of the hardest-hitting styles in martial arts history.

Some innovations over the years, impact pads, double hip, gearing, grip, higher stances, plyometric principles, the modern international gasshuku, ground force reaction, spring loading and heel drop, engaging the kinetic chain, to name some.

Following his passing, Kimura Shukokai International was established in 1995 by senior instructors who had trained directly under Master Kimura for many years.

Today, his teachings continue through dojos across the world.

At Shaw, we are proud to be part of that lineage.
