October Pool Lifeguard Course 🏊‍♂️

Looking to start a rewarding and flexible career in leisure?

Our STA Level 3 Pool Lifeguard Course is running:
📅 Monday 26th – Saturday 31st October 2026

The course is intensive and practical, covering everything you need to become a qualified Pool Lifeguard, including:

- Poolside Rescue
- First Aid & CPR
- Pool safety and lifeguarding skills
- Theory and practical training

Why become a Pool Lifeguard?
Pool Lifeguarding is a rewarding role offering flexible working opportunities, whether you're looking for casual or contracted hours. With experience, you could also progress to a Beach Lifeguard qualification and explore opportunities to work abroad.

The STA Pool Lifeguard qualification is widely recognised across the UK and internationally and is valid for 3 years following successful completion of the course and assessment.

Oldham Active is seeking enthusiastic and qualified Aqua Instructors to join our casual instructor team. With opportunities available across several of our leisure centres, this is a fantastic chance to join an organisation dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of local communities.

Successful SEND Swimming Teacher Training Course 🏊‍♂️

We were delighted by the fantastic turnout for our recent SEND training course for swimming teachers!

The session provided valuable guidance and practical skills to help our teachers better support children and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within our swimming lesson programme. It was encouraging to see the team's enthusiasm and engagement, all committed to creating a more inclusive and positive experience for every swimmer.

The feedback from attendees was extremely positive, with teachers highlighting how useful the training was in increasing their confidence, knowledge, and understanding of how to adapt lessons to meet individual needs.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success. By investing in training and development, we're continuing to ensure our lessons are accessible and enjoyable for all community members.

Meet Lillia – Our New Casual PLG Team Member at Saddleworth ⭐

We're delighted to welcome Lillia to the team as our new Casual Pool Lifeguard (PLG) at Saddleworth Pool & Leisure Centre.

Lillia has always been passionate about swimming. In her younger years, she was a member of Chadderton Swimming Club, which helped develop her lifelong love of the water and aquatic activities.

After completing a Health & Science course at college, Lillia realised she wanted to pursue a career in the leisure industry. She has since successfully completed her Pool Lifeguard qualification with Oldham Active and is excited to begin her journey within the sector.

Outside of work, Lillia enjoys keeping busy with a range of activities, particularly subaqua diving. She loves travelling abroad to explore warmer waters and experience new underwater adventures.

Looking ahead, Lillia is keen to continue developing her skills and gaining further qualifications to enhance her career opportunities within the leisure industry.

We are delighted to have Lillia join the Saddleworth team and look forward to supporting her development. If you see her around the centre, please take a moment to say hello and help give her a warm Saddleworth welcome 💙
