Anyone can count your reps and tell you to work harder.

A good coach sees the small things you don’t — the position costing you strength, the compensation you can’t feel and the reason your progress has stalled.

Sometimes one small correction changes everything.

YOUR WARM-UP IS KILLING YOUR WORKOUT.

Warm-up sets aren’t there to tire you out.
They’re there to help you feel the movement, get used to the increasing weight and prepare your nervous system for the heavier working sets.

Build the weight up, bring the reps down and save your energy for the sets that actually count.

Some things are easier to carry when you train.

WHAT IF YOUR ABS AREN’T THE PROBLEM?

You train your abs to build them. You lose overall body fat to see them.

Those are two completely different jobs.

Your body doesn’t automatically burn fat from the area you’re training, so doing more crunches won’t force it to take fat from your stomach.

Personally, I’d train abs properly two to four times per week — add resistance, control the movement and progressively make them stronger.

Then focus on your calories, protein, daily activity and consistency to remove the fat covering them.

You don’t need 500 crunches every day.
You need a diet you can actually

I’m 41. I still train hard, and I have no intention of training like I’m made of glass.

But I don’t train the same way I did in my twenties.
I’ve made enough mistakes to know better.

No warm-up. Too much ego. Training through pain. Adding more weight when the technique was already gone.

I used to think that was hardcore.

It wasn’t. It was just stupid.

Now I still train hard, but I train with a purpose. I manage fatigue, control the weight and listen when my body tells me something isn’t right.

That isn’t training soft.
That’s training like a man who still wants to be strong in another 20 years.

Being over 30 isn’t the problem.
Having big f**k off ego might be.
