🧗 WE’RE HIRING: CLIMBING INSTRUCTOR / RECEPTIONIST

Want to be part of something special?

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced climbing professional to join the Summit Up team in Oldham.

This varied role combines climbing instruction and reception duties, working with a wide range of ages and abilities. You’ll help deliver safe, fun and high-quality climbing experiences while providing excellent customer service.

🧗 THE ROLE
• Deliver school groups, coaching, NICAS and taster sessions
• Work on reception, including cash handling and competency tests
• Maintain high standards of safety and customer service
• Support the wider team and take on additional responsibilities
• Be professional, friendly and approachable

✅ WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• Experience working in a climbing wall
• CWI or RCI qualification minimum (ICA candidates looking to progress will be considered)
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Excellent customer service
• Good instructing experience across different ages and abilities
• Passion for climbing and a team-focused attitude

⭐ DESIRABLE
PPE inspection experience, NICAS delivery, EPoS experience, Clip 'N Climb knowledge, or a coaching/CWDI qualification.

⏰ CASUAL / HOURS CONTRACT
Evening, weekend and Bank Holiday work required.

We’re looking for an experienced, confident and passionate climbing professional to join our team at Summit Up Climbing Centre, Oldham.

As Duty Manager, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the Centre, leading the team, maintaining high standards of safety and customer service, and helping create an amazing experience for our customers.

💪 THE ROLE
• Manage the day-to-day running of the Centre
• Lead and support the team
• Resolve issues and support the management team
• Maintain high standards of safety and customer service
• Instruct climbing sessions to a high standard
• Take on additional responsibilities depending on experience

✅ WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• Climbing industry experience
• Relevant climbing instructor qualifications
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent customer service
• Confidence to take initiative and solve problems
• A genuine passion for climbing

⭐ Experience in route setting, NICAS, PPE inspections or staff training would be a bonus.

⏰ 30 HOURS PER WEEK
Evenings, weekends & Bank Holidays required. Potential for a full-time contract for the right candidate.

INTRODUCING OUR SEND & INCLUSIVE CLIMBING SESSIONS

At Summit Up Climbing, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy climbing.

We offer a range of dedicated sessions for disabled and neurodivergent children, young people and adults, creating supportive, inclusive spaces where everyone can climb at their own pace.

SEND CLIP | Ages 4+
Tuesdays, 5pm–6pm | £5pp

Our SEND Clip session is designed specifically for disabled and neurodivergent children aged 4+. Enjoy our Clip ’n Climb challenges in a fun and supportive environment, with adaptive equipment available to help make climbing accessible.

SEND ROPES | Ages 7–18
Tuesdays, 4pm–5pm | £5pp

A fun, flexible drop-in session offering roped climbing and bouldering in a supportive environment. Build confidence, strength and coordination, make friends and enjoy climbing at your own pace, with experienced staff providing additional support.

NICAS ASCEND | Children & young people
£5pp + cost of logbook

A termly climbing programme helping children and young people develop their climbing skills, build confidence and achieve personal milestones. Participants can progress at their own pace through supportive, goal-focused sessions.

ADULTS CLIMBING SOCIAL | Ages 18+
Fridays, 2pm–4pm | £5pp

An inclusive drop-in climbing session for disabled and neurodivergent adults. All abilities are welcome, with staff support available. Climbers and carers can also enjoy a coffee and socialise together in our South Ridge Café before or after the session.
