Why biomechanics matters more than you think.
Players are more commonly getting ACL, MCL and other injuries that can cost them a good portion of the season. But what if I told you that there is a way to reduce this risk.
In female sports, most girls don't access the gym until they are 14 and boys maybe at 12 years old, so could this be the reason?
In short, weight training starts when you are a baby and then you progressively pick up larger loads; Toys, food and even thinks you shouldn't. So the myth that you shouldn't weight train until you are 16 is pretty much non exhistant.
Since qualifying as a biomechanics coach, I have gained a reputation for enhancing movement quality and improving speed by a minimum of 0.3 seconds in session 1.
How?
Whether I am operating in a group setting or in a 1 to 1, I pay particular attention to how an athletes moves and what happens throughout the movement identifying certain patterns.
This enables me to identify muscular imbalances, the reason athletes aren't explosive and also why they are unable to produce / absorb force effectively in jumping and landing.
While going on a course is great, it doesn't teach you everything and neither does the latest scientific paper on speed development. What it does give you are the foundations that you can build your own learnings and development from.
Every persons biomechanical make up is different, based on age, experience, training load amongst other factors.
By paying added attention to detail, I have been able to excel my clients athletic development long term by making small changes to their movement and getting big rewards.
If this relates to you then please feel free to reach out and lets see how I can help enhance your movement quality and get you to the next levels in your performance.
