Not often I’m speechless.

Food isn’t just calories and macros.

It’s not just eating clean.

It’s emotional, it leaves memories.

It brings us back to happy times.

Sometimes it reminds us of sad times.

Im not advocating eating s**t all the time.

You should have a good framework for your diet which includes lean proteins, fruit, veg and carbs like rice and pasta.

There are also 100% times where you should say no to foods when you aren’t hungry or you have something to achieve.

BUT. You should never FEAR food.

That’s what these people screaming in supermarkets want.

They dress it up as saving people from “the man” or “big pHaRmA” and I do think there are massive changes that need to be made in the food industry.

But they then spout lies and speak opinions as if they are fact.

It creates more issues than it solves.

Lifting weights not only slows that process right down but reduces your risk of every major disease.

Liz comes from a generation that frowned on women lifting weights.

After some gentle persuasion from her daughter Clare she decided to come along and 4 weeks in she’s actually enjoying the weights.

Even though she told my wife on Monday that I was torturing her 😂.

It’s never too late to learn.

Goblet squat is an amazing exercise to build lower body strength.

I see a lot of people making the same mistake when holding the weight.

Make sure to wrap your hands round and then keep it snug into your body.

You won’t get any unwanted lower back pain.

These 2 transformations appeared in my memories from a couple years ago.

The same principles to weight loss apply to today.

You CANNOT just cut calories to lose weight.

You always rebound and over indulge in the future.

There has to be strategic habit change.

Such as…
- planning ahead.
- small bits of meal prep (washing fruit, making a side salad etc)
- eating 2-3 meals a day
- eating fruit daily
- getting sufficient protein
- drinking enough water

These are basics that everyone should be doing.

That’s not my opinion.

That’s what science shows us is the key to maintaining a healthy weight.

EXERCISE shapes the body.

Want a nice bum…..you need to lift weights.
Want defined arms and shoulder.. you need to lift weights.
Want shaped legs…. Lift weights.

It improves posture and reduces aches and pains.

It makes everything you do easier.

Small changes make a massive difference.

But it’s not easy to implement these without accountability

That’s where I come in…..

The number 1 way to lose weight….

It’s not running
It’s not lifting weights
It’s not Pilates

It’s eating in a consistent way.

The reason most people struggle to lose weight is because their nutrition is all over the place.

Sometimes having breakfast, sometimes having lunch, not drinking enough water, not eating fruit.

If you started consistently having 3 meals a day, eating 2-3 portions of fruit a day and consistently drinking 2 litres of water it would calm down your snacking and “food noise”.

Food noise is hunger…..

Brought about by inconsistent eating day after day.

Then snacking on things that aren’t filling but are high in calories.

Meaning you’re never truly satisfied and consistently chasing the next thing.

You don’t need to eat less food, you need to eat better.

A day like….

Eggs on toast
Yogurt and fruit
Tuna sandwich
Bag of crisps
Chicken fajitas
Banana

Would not only fill you up but would not you constantly chasing food.

99% of people reading this that are overweight would lose weight on a day similar to above.

That’s probably more food than you are eating now but so much less calories.

It’s not about eating less.

You get the point…..

There isn’t a single part of your life lifting weights wouldn’t improve.

Time to get the finger out.

Confidence comes from working on yourself.

Trying new things and working to get better at them.

Challenging yourself.

Having the tough conversations with yourself about the things you should and shouldn’t be doing.

Do that from a place of positivity.

Remember the goal isn’t to be X weight.

The goal is to be happy, proud, confident and do the things you want to do.

Joking…. But I do have a couple things I learned.

Train for it: like properly. I didn’t and I regret it. At the end of the day it’s about finishing it but the hard work you put in during training is why you should sign up for these things.

You will 100% at some point want to quit. In fact, I had that feeling about 20 times. At 13 miles the urge to quit was so strong I had to shut down my brain.

I don’t really remember between 13 - 20 miles. I looked at the floor and just made sure I put 1 foot in front of the other.

Take ear phones - I didn’t. Regretted it when I realised I know the words to about 2 songs off the top of my head 😂.

VASELINE your undercarriage.

Ouch the chaffing.
