5kg drop in body fat and I am delighted.
I wanted to retain my shape, esp my bum, but lose some extra weight round my mid section and legs.
I did it slowly. As a 48 year old, full time working Mum of 3 kids,dealing with Peri menopause, I was not sure how this would go.
I wanted to live the fat loss alongside my girls so I could be the better coach. . So here is what I did.
1. I took myself into a defecit. Not a huge one but approx 300 kcals a day. I am a miserable cow if I am humgry so it had to be sensible. U NEED TO KNOW YOUR MAINTENACE KCALS TO GET INTO A DEFECIT.
2. I increased my cardio . 2 zone 2 runs a week of 5k each. Easy pace, and I actually love this now.
3. REDUCED (yes that’s right) my strength training to 3 x 45 min sessions a week.
4. I walked daily, between 6000-10000 steps, no more.
5. I found easy meals that I eat on repeat. Then cook some new ones at the weekend.
6. I ate 110g of protein a day to maintain my muscles.
7. I still allowed myself meals out and some alcohol, although during the week I stayed away from drink.
8. I gave myself a few days off every fortnight where I increased my kcals.
I have found this journey so rewarding and useful. I am still a size 8, but I have less fat and my muscles are more evident .
So girls it is not impossible. It is commitment, repetition and time that we need.
