The University of London Union Polo Club is the third oldest university polo club in the country. The University College London Riding Club founded the club in 1988 with the intention of training student polo players to the highest standards in the country and competing against Oxford and Cambridge, then the only other university polo clubs in the country. sided over the club in 1990, and in the following years, polo in London would see a resurgence in popularity as the number of providers increased and the sport became more accessible to students. The club was originally based at Epsom Polo Club but has since moved to the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club in order to accommodate its growth in membership. With 60 active members and over 100 frequent players, we are the largest university polo club in the country and arguably the world. We welcome players of all abilities seeking to learn the sport of kings and represent the union in our many games and fixtures throughout the year. The majority of our players have never played polo before joining university at London. Many have made good progress throughout their education, starting as beginners and working their way up to our intermediate leagues. The club competes regularly against other universities in matches and tournaments across the country. All members, from our complete beginners to our more experienced players are encouraged to play. We excel in introducing newcomers to a sport that most people come to love from their first day on a horse. Our beginner and novice teams have had great success in recent years.
