The game started at a cracking pace, and that first quarter was incredibly tight. It was goal for goal most of the way through, with Bolts just ahead of our Foxes. Through the middle, Amber and Phoebe were working non-stop in WD and C, covering every bit of court and keeping the ball moving beautifully into attack. In the circle, Nik and Amy looked completely settled from the outset, calmly putting away their chances and keeping us right in it.
The second quarter carried on in much the same vein—competitive, physical, a close contest. Our Foxes caught Bolts, just one goal in it. Bernie at WA was having a great game, feeding the ball into the D with real consistency and making it look far easier than it is. The timing into the circle was spot on, giving Nik and Amy every opportunity to keep the scoreboard ticking. At the defensive end, Zoe and Helen were working hard —tight marking, strong contests, and never making things easy for their attackers.
After halftime, Bolts came out with a bit more momentum and started to edge ahead in the third quarter. A few things didn’t quite go our way, and they capitalised well. That said, our shooters were an absolute highlight. Nik and Amy were shooting beautifully—some of those goals from the edge of the circle were just brilliant to watch, taken with real confidence and composure.
In the final quarter, Bolts managed to build on their lead, but to our credit, the effort never dropped. The ball movement into the D was still a real positive, with Bernie, Amber, and Phoebe continuing to link well and create opportunities. There was a nice sense of patience and control in attack, even under pressure, and the shooters kept delivering right until the end. Well played Foxes.
