Our squad of 8 headed to the Basingstoke Nina Day Versatility Tournament today for a brilliant day of netball, sunshine, and plenty of laughs ☀️🏐

A huge shoutout has to go to Harriet, who somehow kept going all day — not only playing but also umpiring with endless energy. Absolute machine! 👏

The famous neighbour gate made another appearance and definitely kept everyone entertained between matches 😂

Off the court, luck was on our side too, with raffle wins bringing home both gin and chocolate — a winning combination by anyone’s standards! 🍫🍸

The sunshine made for the perfect tournament atmosphere, but the biggest highlight was seeing players step out of their usual positions and absolutely smash it. Some amazing shooting from our non-shooters today — versatility at its finest! 💪

A fantastic day of teamwork, versatility netball, and memories made. Well done everyone! 💜

The game started at a cracking pace, and that first quarter was incredibly tight. It was goal for goal most of the way through, with Bolts just ahead of our Foxes. Through the middle, Amber and Phoebe were working non-stop in WD and C, covering every bit of court and keeping the ball moving beautifully into attack. In the circle, Nik and Amy looked completely settled from the outset, calmly putting away their chances and keeping us right in it.

The second quarter carried on in much the same vein—competitive, physical, a close contest. Our Foxes caught Bolts, just one goal in it. Bernie at WA was having a great game, feeding the ball into the D with real consistency and making it look far easier than it is. The timing into the circle was spot on, giving Nik and Amy every opportunity to keep the scoreboard ticking. At the defensive end, Zoe and Helen were working hard —tight marking, strong contests, and never making things easy for their attackers.

After halftime, Bolts came out with a bit more momentum and started to edge ahead in the third quarter. A few things didn’t quite go our way, and they capitalised well. That said, our shooters were an absolute highlight. Nik and Amy were shooting beautifully—some of those goals from the edge of the circle were just brilliant to watch, taken with real confidence and composure.

In the final quarter, Bolts managed to build on their lead, but to our credit, the effort never dropped. The ball movement into the D was still a real positive, with Bernie, Amber, and Phoebe continuing to link well and create opportunities. There was a nice sense of patience and control in attack, even under pressure, and the shooters kept delivering right until the end. Well played Foxes.

Last week Odiham Dragons and Odiham Lions met again in Division 1 of the BNL.

It was a happy but competitive game and it was great to see the progress both teams have made so far throughout the season.

Dragons were victorious at the end of the game with a final score of 55-30. Lions worked hard, played well and were relieved to get the point for scoring better than half.

A special thank you goes to Em for helping Lions and Lucy for helping Dragons.

POM went to Katie.B from Lions and Alisha from Dragons; both very well deserved 🙂.

Monday night saw Lions take on Basingstoke in a closely fought match from start to finish. We pulled a team together last minute, so a big thank you to Phoebe and Ems from Foxes for stepping in!

The game stayed tight throughout, with both sides battling hard. We started to edge ahead at times, with Poppy keeping us motivated and focused from the sidelines. Considering we haven’t all played together before, everyone gelled brilliantly and put in a strong performance.

Going into the final quarter it was neck and neck, with Basingstoke just managing to take the lead with a final score of 40–37.

Player of the Match went to Claire at GD for an outstanding performance

The Foxes were up against Ninjas on Tuesday the 18th of March.

Throughout the game Foxes worked hard to keep the passing strong and consistent. Phoebe at C and Amber at WA making themselves available for the passes to get it to Nik and Amy S playing in GS and GA. As always, Nik and Amy S working brilliantly together to pass the ball around the circle and take their shots. Ems and Zoe were asked to sub on and switch positions during the game. No problem! They stepped up and kept the ball moving around the court. And Amy C and Katie worked in defence to block the shooters and intercept the tricky short passes. By the half time Foxes had caught up with the Ninjas leading score line, with just a few goals in it!

Despite the consistent play by Foxes, Ninjas pulled away and increased the score line in the second half. Their shooters were excellent and scored goals from all over the circle. The match ended 29-48 to Ninjas. A shout out to players player Amy C for her excellent defending at GK and GD! Well done to Ninjas and well done Foxes!

ONC Foxes faced a tough match against league leaders HW Lions on Tuesday evening. The Foxes started strongly and briefly took the lead, showing great determination against a very strong side.

Even Olivia Newton-John would agree it was a physical game, particularly for the Foxes’ attackers who battled hard in the circle under tight defensive pressure. Despite super start shooter Amy secured POM!

Communication wasn’t great at the start, but after a pep talk from Captain Katie, you couldn’t keep the Foxes quiet, some of us were even wishing for a mute button. Rain towards the end of the match added another challenge, but it didn’t dampen the Foxes’ spirit. The final score was 40–25 to HW, but the team left proud of their resilience and determined for their remaining matches.
